Considering we won gold in JW1X, JW2- and JW2X at the recent European Junior Championships, and we are sending the same crews in those boats, I expect medals here in all of those. Not sure about our JM4X who won silver, but that's another good chance for a medal. Hopefully we can end with 4-5 medals in the U19s.

For the U23s, I am disappointed (but not surprised) by how small our team is. Anastasiadou won silver in LW1X last year in her first year as a U23, she should definitely win another medal this year and hopefully gold (the Italian girl who beat her last year is too old now). Boumpou/Fragkou is an interesting combination for the women's pair, as Fragkou has never been in a sweep event but both have won tons of medals in the past so I guess they'll automatically be amongst the favourites to win. Not sure what to expect from 16 yo Kontou in W1X. I can't see her beating the likes of Foester and Janzen, but maybe she can surprise and win a bronze or something? She really should be in U19s instead. We have decent teams in LM2X, M2- and M2X and I think they all should make A Finals but I'm not sure about medals...

We have many people who belong to the U23 category that have won medals in the past who were not selected which is a bit disappointing because we could be winning more medals. Maria Kyridou was suspended from the national team so I understand she isn't here (which is totally ridiculous because she did nothing wrong), but others like Angeliki Arabatzi (who won bronze here last year in W2X in her first season as U23) was not selected even though she has a history in scull, sweep, and lightweight events and really could've been in any boat. I also think if U23s and U19s weren't at the same time, some others like Gkogkou and Natsioula would've competed in both instead of just U19s.

Our boys have been mediocre so far, with the exception of JM4X which won their heat.

However, our girls have been absolutely dominant.

Anastasiadou won her heat in BLW1X by 10+ seconds, setting a new World best time :yes

16 yo Kontou finished second in her heat (only 3.5 seconds behind Foester) in BW1X to advance to the semifinals.

Bourmpou/Fragkou comfortably won their heat in BW2- to advance to the final.

Now today, Dalidou/Natsioula finished 1st in their heat in JW2X by over 7 seconds to advance to the semifinals.

And Gkogkou won her heat in JW1X by 13+ seconds, and had the best time of all heats by 6 seconds.

We still have JW2-, JW4- and JW4X which have not competed yet.

It's crazy how for such a small country, we somehow always manage to land on the medal table in many highly contested sports consistently.

The level of our average athletes is much lower than most countries, but we always manage to get enough of those good ones that just do the job :p

I believe there was a gold for :URU in U23 single LW. Same guy that made the olympic final in the doubles. Interesting career to follow there.

Uruguay also finished 4th in mens doubles. Would be Good to See a 5th continent Regularly Winning medals in rowing.

    • Is the Grand Final officially this Saturday?
    • Huh, there's still countries buying F-16's?     Coincidentally we said goodbye to our last ones a little over a month ago (Belgian ones are still sometimes flying here though).
    • Yeah, Harris might not be great, it is still definitely better than having an outright psychopath as president, again. At the very least it should be someone who is at least capable and willing to, you know, communicate like an adult. Trump very clearly can not do that, although one would assume his childish yelling and overall immensely bizarre way of speaking (from his intonation to his 'we did great, everyone thought it was great, they couldnt believe how great I was!') must appeal to a certain kind of person, I suppose.
    • Alix Klineman has also announced her retirement following the conclusion of the AVP League    https://www.instagram.com/reel/DB9CZwrPfqj/?igsh=MTZiaDk0NndmaTAzcQ==   What a sad year for beach volleyball, with Brouwer, Meeuwsen, Ludwig, Bobner, Pavan, and now these two retiring.
    • It's good that Argentina is starting to get back on track economically. Every year, all of our alpine skiing teams train in August in Argentina in Ushuaia: "Fine del Mundo", as it advertises itself.
    • The relation of Trump with Russia and, more specific, with Putin is probably the most controversial (being generous) thing of the presidence of Trump, i dont believe the same but is clearly that China help democrats in that election, both are playing their games.   In Argentina the society is clearly divided, the people who are in the left side of the politics, peronist and kirchnerism are very against the goverment, propably the only genuine "rigth-wing" goverment since the recovery of the democracy in 1983. For me and the most part who are in the rigth wing: libertarians, nacionalist and conservatives, is probably the best goverment we see to this days, he made in his first year with a very few legislators in the congress some big and good changes:   1) In the economical: the inflation is only 3% per month since a more of 15% in the last months of the last year, Argentina has now fiscal, financial and comercial surplus-   2) Our country didnt have fighter planes and the goverment buy 24  American F16  -   3) He changes the electoral sistem for a "single ballot" sistem, we have an obsolete electoral sistem that doesnt change from the 19 century and specially, the peronist use for make fraud.   4) In my personal case, he really update the tax sistem for small/medium profesionals and traders.......and that save us to pay the 50% of our earnings to the state.   With a big expectations in the goverment, its better than i thinked before.
    • It could be better, or it could be much worse, for example, if the accusations that he has been accepting large amounts of money from Russia since 2017 are confirmed. Now let Harris win, which will end Trump's political career and I hope that in 4 years the Republicans will put up someone more predictable.     btw, how is this controversial president of Argentina doing?
    • More predictable is not always better, for me the goverment of Biden was one of the worst of the History of USA and i cant imagine what can happen with even a worse version like Harris is.   I hope, for the contrary, Trump be elected and "may be" the things changes for the better in the world.
    • I once read that Harris had never been to Europe before 2020, when she became vice president. On the other hand, her foreign policy will be more predictable, because it will be a continuation of Biden's policies. That is why I hope Harris wins, although the bookmakers are betting on Trump.
