  1. The government is trying to protect the language right? I also read that the community of speakers are undertaking efforts to protect it. What’s Graubünden famous for by the way? I recognize that name, but I can’t figure out why. Oh wait, they had a failed Olympic bid for 2026 right?
  2. I’ve already posted our year end message on here, and I’ll probably post one on our website within the next few hours as well. Just wanted to give a quick thanks to everyone who’s been listening to the podcasts. The podcasts are only worth making if the community likes them, and continues to listen to them, and so far we’ve seen enough support to continue to give our time towards making them. So if you haven’t given our last few a listen, go ahead and make that a New Years resolution . Now to the important business . Myself and @Vojthas have been discussing our editorial coverage plans for Lausanne2020, and we’d now like to share our final plans with you . We will offer the following coverage for Lausanne2020: Daily Podcast - It will be receded by myself and @Vojthas at 23:00 local time daily. You can expect to be able to listen to it at around 00:00 local time each day. On the podcast (probably titled “Bonjour Lausanne!”), we’ll do a quick review of the days events, talk about our favorite moments, address any controversy, and cover anything else you guys want us too. Event Review Articles - You can expert full review articles (as well as other content) on our website. They will be provided by the OIS, and we will edit them to add information we deem relevant or useful. We may also run some other articles to talk about the culture, people, and sport scene of Lausanne. Updating Blog - Don’t have time to follow the games? On our updating blog, we’ll provide you with the most up-to-date information. You can expect links to results, livestreaming, breakdown of IOC Congress, and highlights of the best of social media from the games. Unofficial Prediction Contest - @Vojthas and myself are in the process of finalizing the questions, and then the contest will be open to participation from all forum users . It should be published within the next week, so be on the lookout for that. @Vojthas is very pleased with his new “youth” and “urban” format Social Media - Follow our social media for links to all our coverage, interactive polls/quizzes, and for help finding the information you want. See you in 2020! The first Olympiad year of the 20s.
  3. Also, why just not have “Judo Discussion Thread” instead of “Judo 2019 Discussion Thread” and “Judo 2020 Discussion Thread”. Personally I’d find it more useful just to have to read through one thread to find information.
  4. Really cool (very well made) documentary about the history and story of St. Helena Airport. The airport is not vitally useful to athletes on the island, so let’s hope it stays in use for a long time to come.
  5. Shooting was included because it contains almost no discernible physical activity. Karate was included because of it’s scoring system (points have to awarded by judges who look for proper artistic form). If that list contains sports, what is the difference between those sports and dancing? Many of those sports are cultural as well.
  6. So then let me ask a different question. Are Artistic Swimming, (All) Gymnastics, Diving, Equestrian (Dressage and Eventing), BMX Freestyle, Karate, Shooting, Skateboard, and Surfing sports?
  7. Ah, there’s our issue . To me, Dancing is both the world’s most popular art form, and the world’s most popular sport. Dancing satisfies the lose criteria to be a sport (especially if we consider Judo, Parkour, Karate, Gymnastics, and Artistic Swimming sports as well). Now, breaking isn’t by any means the world’s most popular dance form. However, it is a format made for competition that requires very good physical fitness and technical ability. For me, while I would have preferred a very different format for Dancing at the games (one every other person on this forum would hate (most likely)), breaking deserves it’s spot as Dance Sport.
  8. Yeah, Novuz is technically Iranian New Year right?
  9. Breaking deserves a spot much more than Pencak Silat
  10. Doesn’t seem like there should be much of a moral issue. “I’m going to let those people over there live their life how they want, and I live mine how I want.” The end.
  11. He better have told them what a bad idea this is...
  12. Horrible situation unfolding in Australia:
  13. Yes, absolutely this. Plus some people can feel very self deprecating about their bodies, and seeing other people’s could be very disturbing.
  14. Brings back some good memories from Watchmen Some of my personal favorites are: Rhapsody In Blue O Fortuna In the Hall of the Mountain King Ride of the Valkyries Flight of the Bumblebee Habenera Moonlight Sonata Bolero (I practice every single public speech I do to this song) (pro tip ) The Flower Duet Waltz of the Flowers Swan Lake Clair De Lune Lacrimosa Beethoven’s 5th Dance of the Knights (One of my favorite songs of all-time. It’s generally associated with the October Revolution and USSR in US popular culture)
  15. Again, it’s a dick (or testicles, vagina, breasts, or ass) Surprise! It’s not going to rock your world, we’ve all seen one. I don’t think people should be flaunting them around, especially if people really don’t wish to see it, but it is actually a very interesting argument here.
  16. This is going to be a highly unpopular opinion, but whatever. Seeing someone naked isn’t necessarily a bad thing. People lived for centuries without clothing and existed just fine. I do think though, that in this day and age, it is absolutely insanely inappropriate to be naked in public. However, it is an interesting point.
  17. And...Hello Sanders as the democratic nominee People a rather upset about this, and rightly so. Though it’s a political tactic I quite like. It’s just not the time for it.
  18. You sir, have not seen my parties (This is 100% a joke, I’ve never even held hands with a girl/guy, so orgy would be a rather large step) This whole statement shows that you’ve never been to SoCal (except the slavery part. We never endorsed slavery, and we don’t joke about that)
  19. Ancient Olympians weren’t familiar with those principles
  20. Just a difference of artist viewpoint (taste?) here. I quite like it as a “rebel” piece of art, but I could see how people who love Carmen would hate it. I think it’s genius, but I also understand that it “ruins” or “misuses” the original source material.
  21. That’s the idea. It’s annoying, it’s loud, it’s clattering, it’s clout, it’s social media, it’s Twitter; it’s art . That’s the true genius of his music. I like that he took a traditional song known for “showing the discord of a relationship”, and used it to describe the modern discourse. I also love Carmen by the way. One of my absolute favorite beats and classical songs. Formidable is again beautiful because of the lyrics, tone, and voice. Stormae is a very unique powerful, yet soft voice that really conveys subtle emotion well (at least in my opinion). The lyrics of the song a very “real” for many people, and most can’t relate to parts of it. Also the play on words using “Wonderful” (Formidable) as a way to describe divorce, domestic violence, and family issues is simply brilliant. This is all my opinion of course, and I think you’re too 10 was pretty top
  22. It’s interesting how toxic masculinity and LGBT issues really blend. I guess it makes sense because they both push tolerance, and look to rewrite established norms, but it’s still interesting nonetheless.
  23. Ah, I like a little bit of house here and then. However, I judge songs/albums by a multitude of factors. For me, his album has the best content, voice, and diversity. Carmen might be favorite song of all-time, but I also quite like Formidable.
  24. Why not? I’m just genuinely curious, especially since we have somewhat similar taste.
