  1. Always a risk when cheering for Fak around my family . If you just say the proper pronunciation a bit wrong...
  2. Also have to mention Lindsey Vonn’s 2010 Downhill gold medal. It’s the one event from Vancouver2010 that I can still remember watching. She captivated the nation with that win, and became America’s first ski queen.
  3. Ester Ledeka’s double gold will arguably go down as one of the greatest stories in Winter Olympic history. I still remember NBC calling that race, and then being like “uhhh, we may have made an early call earlier.” Plus, she was just so dominate in the Parallel GS. Now all that’s been complimented by her first World Cup win (and in the same bib number as her Olympic win).
  4. Speed Skating Reallocations: Rejected 1 Male: Rejected 1 Female: Gained 1 Male: Gained 1 Female:
  5. To quote Ron Burgundy, “the market is has really become over saturated.”
  6. I would prefer to talk about the 2025 EYOF in here for now though. After today that thread would most likely be empty for years,
  7. By my calculations the FIS still has the potential to reallocate 15 quotas. However, I’m not sure about how the process works at this point, or if they plan to reallocate those quotas. What happened is that each discipline was given a maximum amount of quotas, but some of the disciplines couldn’t meet that maximum even after allocation (example: Ski Jumping should have had 40M/40W, but instead ended up with 38M/35W after all reallocation). The FIS seems to have given some of these “lost” quotas to other disciplines, though there doesn’t seem to be a real method to it (they’re just giving them off wherever pretty much). We are now left with 15 quotas and countries who still seem to want a few, but I don’t know if the FIS intends to reallocate them, or if there will just be less athletes than allocated for in Lausanne?
  8. Or any games in 2021 except for the World Games. I could start making some I guess, I’m generally the most active in those threads.
  9. 99% Sure the pageant was won by ...
  10. This topic is self explanatory. I think we should try to stick to international sports and Olympics. Moments outside of competition count. Have fun remembering the last decade. You’re all old now.
  11. Recognize that name from the Universaide . I remember him being somewhat quick on the skis there, but his shooting is what kept him competitive I think.
  12. ...And never flying to Someone also made a good point about all Lithuanians having the same pair of scissors?
  13. Except that meme culture doesn’t actually have an age. While the general understanding of memes may have a generational gap, making memes and being a part of the culture doesn’t.
  14. Not a fan of this new citizenship law in . Definitely moving in the wrong direction, away from peace their. Clearly enough people haven’t watched Slumdog Millionare...
  15. I’m assuming he’s referring to them “discontinuing updates to the OS”?
  16. It was huge here in the US, but you’re right, I would have classified that as trendy or viral, and not as meme. The line can be blurred sometimes. The dubstep remix of that 2 minute clip that was also popular is more meme. This not really a definite criteria as to what is a meme and what isn’t. The rules constantly change, and many “memers” would just say you don’t understand.
  17. No, the qualifications are easy. India requested quotas, but failed to register a single eligible skier. Essentially no skiers from India competed at FIS events, so they didn’t qualify. There’s a difference between quotas requested, and quota eligibility. Realistically an Indian skier basically need to complete a Slalom without falling on their ass, or face, and without crashing. However, no Indians entered an FIS event, so the blame lies with no one really. India just didn’t try to qualify.
  18. I’ve never really understood meme culture myself. I had bad experiences with it in the past, plus I’ve always clicked better with people born in the 80s and 90s. I do think meme culture is super cool when analyzed and studied at a psychological level. There are also many memes I find personally amusing and that I enjoy. I know about 50-60 of the memes/trends on the last, and to me, there was one big omission (maybe two) that I noticed. Understanding memes (how they work, their impact, their social meaning, their deeper and darker meanings) is definitely a generational thing mostly. That said, almost one can make a good meme from time to time.
  19. Honestly one of the greatest articles of the year, totally worth a read and laugh: https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/katienotopoulos/memes-that-defined-the-2010s

  22. Time to breakdown the always fun reallocation process for skiing Alpine Skiing Rejected 3 Quotas: (both will only send 1 male skier) Rejected 2 Quotas: (will send 0 skiers) RejectEd 1 Quota: (will send 0 skiers) Gained A Male and Female Skier: Gained A Female Skier: Gained A Male Skier: Currently there will be more female alpine skiers than male alpine skiers in Lausanne Cross Country Skiing Rejected 2 Quotas: (will send 0 skiers) Rejected 1 Quota: (both rejected their 2nd female quota, and will send 1M/1W) Rejected 1 Quota: (will send 0 skiers Gained A Male And Female Skier: Gained A Female Skier: Gained A Male Skier: *13 quotas were reallocated, but I only count 8 rejected. Not really sure what happened there. Ski Jumping Rejected 1 Quota: (will send 1 male jumper) Nordic Combined Rejected 1 Quota: (will send 2M/1W) Rejected 1 Quota: (will send 0 skiers)
  23. It is truly a “Winter Olympics” since has rejected all of their skiing quotas @heywoodu
  24. Technically they could still send him. If they’d already paid for everything, and he asked to go, there’s nothing stopping them from allowing that. I’m sure he won’t end up going, but I’m just merely pointing out a technicality.
