Qualification Tracker

Everything posted by Olympian1010

  1. @Griff88 IWGA posted some badminton newsreel from the 1981 World Games.
  2. There will only be three matches held in South America. If they’re all in the group stage, it shouldn’t be too big a logistical nightmare. It’s still kind of dumb, but maybe not batshit crazy
  3. I think there might be some financial benefits to qualifying athletes the traditional for NOCs. I think the bill is a bit longer for “open entry” athletes. The qualification system is kind of confusing in this regard.
  4. Next chapter in the OCA elections drama.
  5. She finished towards the back of the pack, so maybe cost-benefit (medal possibly) analysis.
  6. This page also seems to display some program decisions that weren’t already known…(assuming it’s final/correct) Lacrosse and flag football will be held again, but there will only be a women’s tournament in each sport. Racquetball is set to get a doubles event. Men will get to compete in boules again. Heyball has been added to billiards. Men’s softball is set to be included over baseball. Para Dance is set to include 8 events! …And, most consequently to me, track speed skating looks to have been dropped
  7. IWGA has already begun tracking quotas: https://www.theworldgames.org/editions/Chengdu-CHN-2025-14/qualifications/by-sport
  8. Are budget problems really that widespread at the moment, or are there other factors? @dcro( tagging you in case there’s extracurricular drama here)
  9. Does the “IB” in the title stand for “International Baccalaureate,” or does it mean something else? Just curious since that’s what IB means in California.
  10. Pretty significant delegation increase for shrinking by a few, which I feel is more common amongst the “smaller” NOCs this cycle.
  11. will send their largest delegation ever to the Games. Total: 667. Link: https://teamchile.cl/santiago2023/delegacion/
  12. I assumed he had retired. He’s pretty much been absent from the top flight of the sport since the pandemic (as you pointed out). I was absolutely stunned to see him win the gold medal. You could see how much it meant to him. needs to invest in a good sports psychologist for Leonardo and Katibin
  13. Los Angeles renamed the area outside the Saudi consulate.
  14. The canoe sprint commentator celebrated China’s victory in one of the 1000m events at the 200m start line, while the roller skating commentator wanted to add an extra lap to the 1000m sprint (which called the “100m sprint).
  15. both hosted multi-sports games with ice hockey on the program in the last four years. just hosted a tournament, no? It seems wild that the reason for cancellation would be a lack of hosts. Then again, if no one wants to host, I guess none of those programs are too committed to Olympic qualification anyway
  16. This is kind of thing I hate about the current Olympics. If you’re going to let an NOC qualify three athletes, they might as well be given the option to enter the team event.
  17. Richard Carapaz will reportedly take part in the men’s road race. @hckošice
  18. Dumb question, but if a nation qualifies three individual athletes, can they form a composite team?
  19. Might have to start keeping score of English commentators versus the common Vietnamese name “Nguyen.” I don’t think I’ve heard a single international feed commentator get it right so far… Kind of embarrassing at the Asian Games.
  20. It’s not her best song*, so that’s probably why no one has submitted it * not her best song = not my favorite
  21. Yeah, if we could get a table like the one @JoshMartini007 made for the South American Games, that would be awesome and much appreciated.
  22. really likes to flirt with the quota/no quota line when it comes to the team event
  23. Flame lighting ceremony will be broadcast live tomorrow.
  24. The esports PDF Reports could definitely be improved. They mostly just lost wins/losses, but don’t include any game stats. Surely, it wouldn’t be that hard to include that information
  25. The roller sports venue is probably one of the best ever constructed. In spite of my political differences with the country, China definitely knows a thing or two about sports infrastructure.
