  1. Why is the one game today scheduled so early on a Wednesday? 9:30 isn’t terrible for Chileans, but that is 5:30 for those of us on the West Coast.
  2. Official Annoucement It has been brought to my attention that one (or more) entries may be ineligible. For now, I'd ask users not to send me their votes while the situation is addressed. Only three juries have cast votes so far. Any changes will be communicated in due course.
  3. I thought I saw her on entry lists a while back... She and D'Amour were the only entries at the 2023 CAC Games
  4. Fiu in balloon form is somehow equally whimsical and terrifying.
  5. scored a goal. That's it. That's the post.
  6. Yeah, I don't think anyone's getting cancelled for reasonable takes This is pretty much the attitude in California at the moment.
  7. GOP still hasn’t found a Speaker of the House in the United States. Jim Jordan fails to secure a majority on the first vote. The lack of a Speaker will likely continue to complicate foreign policy for the time being.
  8. Lutsenko deserves a statue outside the cycling federation. He was on fire
  9. I trained/ran in distance races for a decade a more. I absolutely loved doing 5kms. I picked up one injury in ultimate frisbee, and was told I had to stop unless I wanted a knee replacement later in life
  10. https://www.panamsportschannel.org/main
  11. Team USA published a nice article explaining Basque pelota and the rules for each variation last week. It also includes an introduction to the three American athletes who qualified for the Games. Link: https://www.teamusa.com/news/2023/october/10/get-to-know-basque-pelota
  12. I would say the decision was more motivated by the target market than, "breakdancing simply isn't making enough money." The sports added (outside of cricket, which was added for a different target market obviously) already exist on the American market. Breaking doesn't have the same reach in the United States as American football or lacrosse. As @Laraja noted, the WDSF had to establish an international calendar and formalize the format across competitions. Like any sport, breaking could tap into the American market at some point, but it represents a greater unknown than the chosen six sports.
  13. A big blow to whatever medal hopes they had
  14. No, the IOC doesn't tend to post a full list of proposals.
  15. No... There were many program changes submitted to the IOC, but beach rowing was the only one approved. I'm sure if there are any event changes still on the table though. Paddleboarding (SUP) events will probably be locked out of the Games until the ICF/ISA dispute over the discipline calms down.
  16. I was building a relationship with IFAF at the time, so I spent more time at that venue than any other in Birmingham (inline skating being a close second given my personal interests). I must admit I wasn't impressed by the format. I played flag football (8-a-side) growing up, and I think the format we played allowed for more creative plays than the IFAF format. I'd have to watch some replays to remember my full thoughts on the format though.
  17. Personally, I don't think my generation is any less "sports inclined" than past generations. I think there are a lot of reasons why the younger generation may be turned off from sport, but those could be addressed in the long run with a solid strategy. The "youth are lazy," or the "their attention span is too short" arguments are getting old fast. It's just an easy way for governments and organizations to write-off their policy shortcomings, or their inability to modernize. The issues are a lot more complex than those arguments.
  18. Honestly, the WDSF put together a great format for television/streaming to their credit. The sport has filled venues at multi-sport events when more established sports couldn't and, from my personal experience, has been one of the "hotter" tickets to get your hands on at those events. I'd argue it was left off the program because USA's and LA28's sports priorities lie elsewhere. Baseball, Lacrosse and American Football are just much more established here than Breaking.
  19. It's still "up in the air," but it's highly likely that it will be included.
  20. LOC revamped the home page of the website, which now has links to spectator guides, results, tourism info, and music playlists. Link to the music playlists: https://chilemusica.com/santiago-2023/
  21. PanamSports Channel now shows nine production channels available in both English and Spanish. It looks like broadcasts will begin with the team welcoming/flag raising ceremonies in the village tomorrow.
  22. If we’re going based on entries at the last world championships for each sport, then no
  23. All of that will likely be finalized with the rest of the sports program. We usually learn all that information shortly after the previous Olympic Games.
  24. PanamSports Channel will have nine live channels available internationally.
