  1. Pan American Games begin on Friday Sport Accord World Combat Games will also get revived in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) this week. Quotas were tight and many sports are being held in non-Olympic formats, so limited interest on my end. Still, it will be a rare chance to see international sumo, savate, and armwrestling.
  2. Interestingly, it seems that idea was introduced by regional bodies. ANOCA, CentroCaribeSports, and ODESUR leaders were the first to speak in support. Every reaction I’ve seen to this idea today has made fun of the IOC’s “good governance” or “sustainability” push.
  3. Cricket fans love citing Netherlands as a competitive nation, but I’m not sure they’ve played a competitive game yet at the current ICC World Cup. They haven’t faired much better in baseball, but the sport is almost certainly more global, even if it too is limited to a few hot spots.
  4. Exactly. A sport where one method of winning is to hit your opponent in such a jarring fashion that it causes a traumatic brain injury or cardiac event
  5. And…there’s more: https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1141720/oca-ethics-committee-chair-criticised
  6. Well, someone just dimmed the lights over California. We had the cool semi-circle shadows in the shade too.
  7. They did qualify a women’s flag football team for The World Games.
  8. There might be a third “Olympic Games” soon.
  9. The Voice Referendum fails to pass in Australia.
  10. Yep, it’s come in causal conversations and on the news the few days. We had a similar solar a couple years ago, so there doesn’t seem to be as much hype at the moment.
  11. It's a little unclear at the moment. The IOC seems open to ignoring the original quota limit, but still wants to be as close to it as possible.
  12. participation question will definitely be the forefront of LA28 headlines if lacrosse is approved by the IOC Session.
  13. @heywoodu I decided against it after realizing one, or potentially more, entries weren't available on Spotify. I would advise creating a playlist if you want one, but there won't be an "official" one since it doesn't seem fair.
  14. Both Olympic events were contested.
  15. OCA leadership will likely see a shake-up: https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1141688/ioc-report-on-oca-president-election
  16. The ultimate affect will likely be less nations competing in less sports. I don’t see that as a positive thing for the Olympic Movement.
  17. Those cuts would severely limit universality in those sports and diminish qualifying opportunities for “smaller” NOCs.
  18. Yes, I think the citizenship issue will prove the biggest hurdle for them though.
  19. Definitely feels like this is going to escalate more before there’s any chance at (the very least) a ceasefire.
  20. Yeah, their "free association" status with New Zealand will probably be a problem. Faroe Islands have struggled for recognition despite the support of nearby nations.
  21. Seems to confirm rejected their team quota, which was reallocated to
  22. I actually prefer this system (their standard one) to that one. Although, as I said elsewhere, I think the Microplus system is the best on the market at the moment. I'm still confused with what was going on with the results operation in Hangzhou. It was very similar to Atos' Olympics results system. However, the PDFs looked like the ones produced by the Chinese Sports Information Center for the World University Games. I wouldn't have known it was Bornan without the advertisements/branding. Hopefully Bornan makes an effort to post all the PDFs here (unlike San Salvador 2023), and gives everyone more than two days after the competition to download what they need.
  23. to isn’t a nationality change you see that often.
  24. Definitely one of the longer AAF lists I’ve seen at a multi-sport games this cycle. Link: https://ita.sport/sanction/asian-games-hangzhou/
