  1. Track cycling should get an all-round medal event event, of course besides several sprint and endurance events in both single and mass start formats.
  2. Starting off entirely unrealistic, but oh well Every international sports federation should broadcast their events live and non-geoblocked on YouTube. Not on their own fancy channels, not on all kinds of alternatives, but on YouTube: accessible to everyone, it has all the basic controls many of their own players lack (like basic hotkey functionality), can easily be streamed to whichever device and - importantly - is super easy to watch both live, after a pause and when the entire event has ended. Also, race walking should have a longer event, say 50km or so. If not more, Evan Dunfee once argued a 100km would be amazing (but not on the same mentally deadly 2km lap).
  3. Nordås was on one shoe for half the race
  4. Out of curiousity: in which events don't you care?
  5. I think our buddy Josh is a flag-cheerer and Simbine has a large lack of maple leafs on his flag
  6. Hopefully he keeps that up for a few more months...although really any medal would be awesome in Paris. Enough 4th and 5th places..
  7. Ouch, hopefully that was only cramp for Azu.
  8. 12:26, broke the WR by nearly 10 seconds!
  9. Grand total of 6 NR's, what a race this was
  10. Boss Hagos with the 2nd fastest 5k in history Of course also helped by the immense work of Kejelcha, who very much only cared about the time due to him not being selected for the Olympics yet.
  11. On the track even A mascot, I'd assume. Good thing for the strawberry Mekhissi-Bennabad doesn't compete anymore
  12. Jackson out of form, Thompson-Herah out of form, Fraser-Pryce will only start her season at the trials....Jamaica isn't what it has been.
  13. Wiebes has been named as the captain of the team, so the rest should ride for her. Should be a matter of Van Dijk chasing down whenever needed and Vos and Vollering jumping after whatever might be dangerous and then - and this might be the hard one for Vollering - not take turns pulling on the front. If they manage to get Wiebes to the finish in the lead group, however big it may be, it should be a done deal*. *as far as done deals exist in sports
  14. Which seems fair enough...I mean, Shapira at least finishes most of her races, whereas Gafinovitz has 7 (!) DNF's this year alone..
  15. One would hope sponsors won't touch him at least for another few years after he comes back, but you never know, there's time indeed.
  16. has two spots in the time trial? I thought every country had only one, good for her then Well, regular successes don't have much to do with the drama I think, since that's more part of the regular commercial team stuff. Cycling isn't that much a sport where national teams build everything. Quite sure Tokyo would have ended differently if they were 'normal' people though
  17. Depending on the course, to be fair. On courses with long climbs, yeah. On short, punchy stuff: Kopecky. On flatter courses: Wiebes by far. I am hoping for a Vos miracle....I'm just very, very uninterested in seeing a Vollering gold medal At least looking towards the future it is good Van der Breggen and Van Vleuten have retired and there's some new blood coming with Markus and Van Anrooij, among others. Maybe the whole nonsense can stop with them (especially if Vos remains eternally active to cool things down).
  18. women's team: Demi Vollering, Marianne Vos, Lorena Wiebes and Ellen van Dijk (who will be the time trial rider). Especially Vollering is always a crucial part of the troubles in Dutch women's cycling, leading for example to Anna Kiesenhofer's gold in Tokyo. Wiebes ain't gonna be a team player neither, at least Van Dijk has said her main focus is the time trial and in the road race she's ready to just work. Hopefully it'll go Vos' way, the only one who never ever got involved in all those bullshit shenanigans. Honestly I'd have left Vollering home for Riejanne Markus or Shirin van Anrooij (or leave Van Dijk home as well).
  19. He has been doing high diving for nearly 10 years at least (2015, 2019 world champion)
