  1. They have breaks when there is no action on the podium (like the breaks between sets), because that's when we switch to the host and his guests in the studio (in which the commentators are as well in their own corner)
  2. The decade-long Dutch commentator (the one on the left) is sharp and trained in his routine in between legs, making sure the snacks don't burn
  3. The new Russian dominating sprinter (speed skating) has been found. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikhail_Kazelin He tested positive, so following the Kulizhnikov-story he'll come back after his ban and destroy everyone
  4. It is unbelievable how insanely.....idiotic some people can be. Seriously. Good thing he'll never get his license again, people with such mental instability are a danger for everyone.
  5. South African Cameron Carolissen got a bye into the second round due to Kleermaker's positive test and Josh Payne (first reserve) having been in contact with a person who tested positive. Now he's playing 25th ranked Danny Noppert and Noppert is playing....absolutely terrible Carolissen has already won the first five legs before Noppert finally won one (because Carolissen missed a dart for the set). Wow.
  6. I'm going for Russia.
  7. The biggest surprise there is that she apparently was not suspended yet..
  8. Amersfoort Well, Nunspeet mostly this year But Amersfoort is where the office is. Perfect location in the center of the country and not even a 5-minute walk away from the train station. I would like the social part a bit more sometimes, but am really glad it's not every day. The people are not the problem, the noise would be
  9. I'd have to think about my personal list, I know there won't be an official one since so many things have been cancelled there isn't really a worthy/fair year to decide from
  10. On which, according to experts, the vaccines most likely will work as well. Bit of a panic reaction to shut down everything from the UK in a matter of hours now (the Netherlands stopped all flights from the UK during the last night, out of the blue), but alright. Let's see how it goes.
  11. RIP Veluwe in Ally Pally
  12. I heard a "oh that's cramp, I know exactly how she feels judging by how she is holding her leg" next to me when we saw that, hopefully that is indeed what it was. Personally I fear it could be worse than cramp, but let's just hope it's not, never good to see athletes get injured.
  13. Romanian Benjamin Adegbuyi kicked criminal asswipe Badr Hari's ass in the Glory kickboxing ring last night Hari: "This is going to be easy work." Hari in the 3rd round:
  14. Everyone is only 17 (well, some exceptions of course) So far Geraghty-Moats remains the overwhelming favourite, although of course that's going to change more and more once the women's Nordic combined grows from a children's event to an adult event in the next 3-4 years or so.
  15. Why is it always so hard for FIS to have decent results for team sprints? The results for the women's A and B semi's today both point to a different link, but end up presenting the exact same PDF (result of semi A), the result of semi B is nowhere to be found even in the 'live' timing
  16. [hide] Medal Matches December 20th, 2020 Third Place Match Date & Time (GMT +1) Nation 1 T1 T2 Nation 2 December 20th 2020, h. 15:30 Croatia 5 Denmark Final Date & Time (GMT +1) Nation 1 T1 T2 Nation 2 December 20th 2020, h. 18:00 France 5 Norway [/hide]
  17. Mostly this. Russians getting angry at the outside world instead of at the responsible people for this (aka their government), lol.
  18. Meanwhile Yuki Tsunoda has already been confirmed in the second AlphaTauri seat next to Gasly. Very much deservedly so.
  19. Does the IBSF website have COVID-19 or something? Earlier in the week the women's monobob already was just......gone, with no news or anything as to why there were and still are no results posted. Now there still aren't even start lists for today's skeleton World Cup, even though there are start lists for the European Cup.. https://www.ibsf.org/en/races-results?session=ALL
  20. Which automatically raises the question: is Kozica there as well?
  21. Not much, considering the competition is tomorrow And judging by the PCR today, she is very, very much the favourite.
  22. EU yesterday: "Every member state should wait with starting the vaccination program until also the slowest member states are ready to begin, that's fair." EU today: Europe minus the Netherlands, that is, since vaccinations here will most likely only begin halfway through January.....because the IT systems aren't ready yet And the whole 'wait for the slowest state to be ready' has swiftly been thrown overboard (rightfully so, of course, don't get me wrong)
  23. Not sure about the reasons there, but here some of the measures are a response to Germany's measures: if Germany closes a lot of their shops (which didn't happen that much since a whole shitload is apparently still open due to 'exceptions') and we don't, Germans will just cross the border and buy their stuff here. Much like we would do if it were the other way around and much like what happened in the south when Belgian bars closed...they all just came here to get drunk
  24. I have (at least since I got my job in June) and it has been glorious. I wish this part can stay forever, with going to the office being only optional once this has all blown over No 30-40+ people running and yelling around the office (which I heard from colleagues who've been there longer), meaning I wouldn't be able to get any work done. 90% of the communication done in chats on Teams, meaning most of the important things being said can easily be found instead of having to dig through one's own memory. I can have 5 conversations at the same time, since they're all on Teams it is super easy to keep track of them without having to juggle them in my mind, and I can take a bit of time to answer appropriately. Instead of having to get ready for work 1,5 hour before the start time (travel time etc), I can get ready 5 minutes before the start time. As soon as the workday is done, private time starts, instead of first having to travel all the way back home. I can turn on the TV to some sports (without sound of course, to not get distracted) to keep an eye on. During my break, I can lean back in my comfy chair and watch some TV or something instead of having lunch at work.
