  1. Ah, €25 for IJF Premium for the world championships only....yeah no thanks. Edit: Eurosport has the rights as well
  2. Wouldn't IJF have live streams on their YouTube channel? Nothing in the Netherlands shows it, so it shouldn't be geoblocked, but their channel seems...empty.
  3. As expected with a stage like this: absolutely nothing happening until the last few kilometers. And then a big crash, with some riders being hit fairly hard and a lady in the audience making a nasty fall as well. Hopefully everyone is alright.
  4. This sounds like he kind of messed up. Maybe he didn't, but that's such a super vague post hinting at it with things like "punish athletes for petty crimes"....
  5. Evenepoel is destroying this whole thing already, surprise surprise
  6. Yeah, don't let your mom keep deciding your life even after she's dead
  7. Meanwhile an intensely unhappy - by the looks of it - King Charles has now been officially crowned. With the focus not really being on the coronation but on the entire group of religious circus acts around it
  8. At least with Roglic and Evenepoel, two of the four big GC riders of this moment are present, which - if they don't run into trouble - at least increases the chance of not having another winner like Jai Hindley of all places ahead of some have-beens Nothing against Hindley, but yeah...that's a bit of an outlier in the list of recent GC winners (although not more so than Geoghegan Hart arguably).
  9. La Gazzetta with the big preview cover, showing three riders including the two huge favourites for the win (the two on the left).....but they put Roglic' head on Van Aert's body for whatever reason
  10. I wonder if that's going to be one of those racing films where every onboard shot results in the driver shifting up again and the engine going "broooooom" even louder with every shift until they're going at presumably 600 kilometer per hour in the 28th gear
  11. Thanks. Makes it harder to expect when things get interested, so more likely to miss things, but that's alright. Good to know what I can see in the final blocks
  12. Could someone refresh my memory in terms of the rounds that are in which competition blocks? I believe everything up to and including the quarter finals is in the 'preliminaries' block, and the 'finals block' from 18:00 local time every day has the semi finals, the bronze medal matches and the finals?
  13. To be entirely fair, when no cause of death is mentioned, that is often the 'default' way of announcing a death by suicide... Not to say that's the case here, and if family thinks it's necessary, we'll hear about it whenever they think the time is right (or not), but it's not the weirdest of thoughts to have when there's news like this. Still we should not see it as a conclusion, indeed. And anyway the main thing right now is hoping that her friends and family find some strength somewhere
  14. Was this a case that's been going on before and the news is only the actual verdict, or is this entirely new? Feels like a bomb to me, but I may well have missed it earlier Amos, arguably my favourite 800m runner (apart from Alfred Kipketer and Anita Hinriksdottir) Edit: Ah, the news about being positive is from July last year (so the news today is the actual verdict), now I remember
  15. Right, that reminds me I really should start reading a book I've had for years now, 'Nederland valt aan' ('Netherlands attacks'), about this mess: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Product
  16. Wait, being against a very well-known Chinese government spy tool is being against free press? Interesting I believe since a short while, TikTok is (finally) being banned from the phones of government employees here, and I'm fairly sure military personell was already strictly forbidden from using it on military premises and devices (as they should).
  17. Oh that's right, Austrian NOC are heroes, I had totally forgotten (I used those for my schedules for the previous two Olympics), thank you!
  18. And on a national holiday, so I can even watch live Looking forward to it, the nice meet in Gaborone has got me excited for the season
  19. Are full schedules available yet? I can find these per sport, from the official website, but they only mention the time and event, and not which round of the event it is (like Q, SF, final, etc) https://www.european-games.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/EG2023_Terminarz_Igrzysk_Europejskich_EN_20230426_Artistic-swimming.pdf Which is fine for some smaller sports, but for other sports it will get rather...confusing, quickly (even for artistic swimming, as one can see there is two times 'Duet free', without mentioning exactly which stage of which event it is)
  20. Hopefully not taking away the chances of the Brits who do actually want to compete.
  21. Same here, I think that wasn't on your or our guys...they just didn't receive the video feed anymore It's a shame, but yeah it was a really good quality meet! Omanyana, Tebogo x2, Samukonga...nice.
  22. One big step would be something like a (not so easy) language test, to make sure people competing for a certain country at the very least have no problems speaking the language of said country. Someone who's just going to play there for a year or two probably won't make that, on average, whereas someone who actually builds a life and family and everything there most likely will. But yeah, it will always remain a difficult situation I suppose.
  23. Not a single exception? I mean, I'm not a fan of players being naturalized because they've played for a club in the country for a year or because their greatgrandmother happened to be from the country, but what about the (admittedly more rare) cases where someone has genuinely moved to a new country and built a sustainable life there? For example in athletics, there's a huge difference between all those Kenyans competing for Bahrain and Turkey and whatnot due to the money, and someone like Lonah Salpeter, who competes for Israel but actually has her entire life there for many years already (working there, getting married and raising a family there, living there etc) and is arguably more Israeli than most of their US-based baseball players for example.
  24. Do you know at what time the elite XCO races will start?
