  1. I feel sorry for her. Sure, doping and all, but she's literally only a child, and I wonder how much this will hurt her regular life outside of the sport. What a mess
  2. Wow, that is an awful performance by Valieva. Not surprising, of course..
  3. Jørgen Gråbak, first Nordic combined athlete in history with FOUR Olympic gold medals
  4. The fuck is Austria doing with throwing away Lamparter in the 2nd leg?
  5. And great that coach Johan de Wit, who basically has been the main person in making the Japanse women as great as they are now, could be there after missing most of the Olympics due to a positive test.
  6. It's a random draw, with the main prize of the lottery of course being to have a free competitive advantage for the races that actually matter most (Olympics and world championships). It'd be kind of like Formula 1 needing a deciding race to see who will be champion, and so they make a draw between the teams, with the winner deciding on which track they'll race the deciding race
  7. Another thing, slalom courses in the combined being set by coaches of specific athletes is just bullshit. The whole thing of coaches setting courses even at major championships is nonsense and already unfair from the beginning, but alright.
  8. I agree, I mostly meant she wasn't involved in her result being under scrutiny. But yeah..
  9. When even the skier who gets awarded the medal strongly disagrees with the decision, you might want to check your judging.... This is sad for everyone. For Smith in the first place, but also for Maier, you can see from her face she is not enjoying this at all and is just feeling bad. Everybody loses here... (except for Näslund obviously, no doubt about her )
  10. Yeah, when it's about combined, nobody can really touch either them or Brignone when they're in normal form
  11. Now hold on a minute, the two time world combined champion doesn't like your remarks sir
  12. I wouldn't be so sure...Ledecka's run was excellent and these slaloms aren't known to be that hard (relatively speaking), so it might be hard to make up as much time as one would on the regular slalom. I do see Holdener/Gisin as favourites, but wouldn't be at all suprised now if Ledecka takes it.
  13. DNF, DNF, 9th, 18th, DNF. It could be the list of some fluke skier with the tournament of their life...
  14. Whatever it was exactly, it definitely was a scary moment. Biathlon simply isn't a sport where you see people down on the ground that often, other than relatively minor falls where people get back up quickly. Hopefully Cadurisch will be checked well, but I have no doubt she will. And Anna Weidel being Anna Weidel, comforting Cadurisch while she was being attended to.
  15. South American biathlon and cross-country championships in 2500+ meters Portillo are laughing at your suggestion
  16. "Wait, those were kickers?" First girl just absorbed them all except for the last one Kind of like me when I did BMX (cross) and was never able to actually jump
  17. How big is the chance to see the level in the women's halfpipe improve compared to this qualifying? I was a little shocked, for example, to see 86 points for Sharpe's rather.....underwhelming first run Even Gu's run only looked good for a bit and then looked like there was no energy left at all for the second half.
  18. Dutch commentator is deliciously naive "We can hope the Chinese will keep investing in the sport, maybe in the future we might have a new strong alpine skiing country." Yeahhh.....no.
  19. Queen Kong is probably not fast enough to attack the podium positions on the slalom.
