  1. I'd love a bet with Christoph about whether or not he'll break 80 meters. I'm hoping for his sake he's got a bit more realism in his bones than thinking it's actually legtimitely possible to go 6 meters further than they did in the heydays of doping yourself up with everything in store.
  2. All Austra Skujyte makes me think of nowadays is a bookmaker once offering odds per individual decathlon/heptathlon event, and giving odds of between 3 and 4 for Skujyte to win the shot put (as in, €1 turns into €3 or €4 if you win the bet, which of course was the case because Skujyte)
  3. That depends on the championships. He already scored 8336 points with a poorer run than today. Without improving his 1500m 8400 points is very much realistic for starters (even 8500 maybe, seeing that he's still only 22 and can improve in every event one might say) and that can, as we're seeing right now, be enough for medals.
  4. By the way, respect for the two French dudes bombing out in the 2nd event of the decathlon, but following that up by completing all 8 remaining events in style, including the killing 1500m.
  5. Especially because then you get people thinking "oh you're in 2nd place, you're in clear medal position!", not knowing there's such a thing as, well, being good or less good in certain events.
  6. Not really. He ran a PB in the 1500 and didn't lose that much in javelin. Long jump is where he blew it mostly.
  7. I don't know which events you did and did not watch, but for me the last time is about a year ago at the world championships.
  8. What a miserable last-lap bell.
  9. Really hard to say how far that Swedish jump was, he might have let a hand hanging there or something..
  10. Nilsson Montler's last attempt.
  11. Gudzius @Werloc has just exploded, rest in peace mate.
  12. Did you see the Spanish dude in the qualifying? He made Stahl look like an anorexia patient
  13. Heike Drechsler sweeping the long jump pit is pretty cool.
  14. People who say Sofia Ennaoui is a bought athlete who should not compete here are making themselves look just as ridiculous as people who say Salpeter is a bought athlete who should not compete here, indeed.
  15. Half Australian silver, ridiculous.
  16. And that's the gold for KNO3
  17. I have absolutely no idea why I should or should not cheer for her.
  18. Too bad it's still 1935 and measuring with technology is impossible.
  19. And Salpeter's switch to Israel is even more 'natural' than Shegumo's switch to Poland. I really don't see the problem with Salpeter, it's the exact opposite of Can.
  20. This is so typical. Once again Albania is given an unfair advantage in sports.
  21. Well yeah that's all fun, but I mean, were you like "oh my god African silver at Europeans!11" as well?
  22. Because I already knew everything that was actually interesting, like every flag (a Google search revealed this is more topography than geography)
  23. Which mess exactly? Nykyforov being ahead of Heinzle because his 2nd best attempt is better than Heinze's?
