  1. Yeah that's what I meant with my other post In terms of rescheduling, sometimes there just isn't much choice, but for example Kitzbühel is simply a scheduled double header for some reason (money, I know), which simply makes the Streif win less....well, classic.
  2. To be fair, 10 men's teams is only 1 fewer than four years ago (to keep with the Olympic cycle in terms of comparison), and that still included Russia. Another four years back, there were also only 11 teams, and that included both Russia and Belarus. Four years back again, there were a bit more, with 14 men's teams, but only 9 women's teams (including Russia and Belarus). All in all, at least as far as the past 10-14 years or so are concerned, the numbers aren't really going down that much if you don't count the two now banned countries. I do agree that in general it's a shame to have so few, but I also think it's understandable given that short track speed skating is quite a niche sport.
  3. Oh wow, did the two Italian ladies in the 1500m final drink some Felix Felicis (for Harry Potter fans, for those who aren't, the other name for it is 'Liquid Luck')?
  4. Also, the water in the Red Sea - and a majority of other seas - is apparently red.
  5. Thanks! For now I might just put it in my own agenda on a day by day basis, like just a thing at the end saying "Check today's results" instead of every match, but this will definitely be useful.
  6. Are there any full schedules for ice hockey and curling yet? The official website is useless since it either goes to that simple calendar thing that says "yes, there is ice hockey on day X" or enters a loop where clicking on 'Schedule' brings one back to the home page, and on Wikipedia things are still eerily empty
  7. Yeah, and it shouldn't be too hard. One doesn't even need to go with a full-scale top level production for everything, but at least a few cameras along the cross-country track or something isn't too difficult. Last week we were watching a Continental Cup cross-country skiing event in Oberwiesenthal: nothing fancy, but there were a few cameras and that made the races be watchable, that's all we need...
  8. Well, too bad they have the same content, but Eurosport's player and overall system is WAY better and more user-friendly than the Olympic Channel things (both in terms of finding things, and at least having basic hotkeys for forward/backward/pause), so at least I'm happy I have a good alternative
  9. Oh absolutely, for Wengen it's just unfortunate in this case and if downhills are cancelled, of course they should try and replace it. But Kitzbuhel's downhills are both not replacements, are they? Usually the FIS website would list that, like they did for Wengen, but for Kitzbuhel they didn't.
  10. The only thing I heard is someone on a Dutch forum saying "apparently he has an open fracture on his right leg, according to Mario", but I have no idea who Mario is (the Dutch ES commentator and the duo on German TV both aren't called Mario as far as I know), so yeah... no idea where he got that from
  11. Jack Crawford didn't hold his nerves too well it seems, unfortunately (but understandably, always difficult when you have to wait half an hour).
  12. German commentator (and co-commentator Marco Büchel) are angry about there being two downhills both here and in Kitzbühel. Both because it might be too tough on the athletes, but also because it devalues the classics: there should be one Streif winner, one Lauberhorn winner, it becomes less special if there's more of them.
  13. Step 1: he's conscious and apparently talking.
  14. Sarrazin trying to destroy the Canadian Corner
  15. That was one of the very best downhill runs in a long, long time, unbelievable
  16. Holy smokes, that was some Odermatt magic in the Kernen-S
  17. First time in forever that my eternal hope for Clarey is definitely not going to work out anymore Paris would be awesome, or a good old Winnerhofer, but yeah, unlikely
  18. Here we go with one of the big highlights of the winter, Laubernhorn downhill
  19. Oh come on, why do these events always show a billion curling matches and not show stuff like biathlon or even sliding sports for which you only need a handful of cameras We're still a week away and I'm already so incredibly disappointed
  20. No way today's result should count towards the final standings, with so many top athletes not being able to compete simply due to airlines messing things up. Seems like Nika Prevc got lucky and had her things right on time, but all the Canadians were simply screwed. Best solution would be for the competition to be held as normal, of course, but not counting towards the final standings. That way, it's still a perfectly valid World Cup win, podium and so on for those who get those results, but those whose stuff is missing aren't punished.
  21. Is Hungary's B-team (as I read here) so strong that they still defeat a presumably A-team from Serbia?
  22. Yes, but not often, since I generally just skip them and check the final results only
  23. Typical that Ireland just picked a random pub somewhere in the city and called it a day as far as the search for an Olympic house goes
