  1. The problem is that amateur kickboxing is even worse than amateur boxing, like we could see at the European Games (?) last time if I'm not mistaken. They had kickboxing in one of those semi-big multisport events but with all kinds of weird variations like pointfighting and even 'light contact'....come on. It's kind of like if we'd get MMA in the Olympics. Sure, that sounds great for MMA fans, but we'd probably end up with some amateurs and none of the big names...
  2. These things are going to be awful to watch I mean, look at the pentathlon and how awful the equestrian portion with the tiny jumps is to watch compared to the real thing and they only need 4 other things to focus on. In this case, BMX freestyle would result in them just riding around for a bit and doing like a small jump, and the diving part being like a single straight jump
  3. Swimming Running Lifting weight in some way That would seem like a start. If possible, mostly events where you don't need certain equipment simply to do the sport (not counting weights that need to be lifted).
  4. Doesn't make it great.
  5. As always, most of the suggestions I see make me think "wtf, no", but also I'm not creative enough to come up with lots of realistic suggestions myself I would love for football to be kicked out though. It takes up so many spots and especially the junior men's event is just ridiculous (as an Olympic event). As for mountain bike: please no shorttrack, those races are the epitome of 'it must be short and spectacular', resulting in usually nothing happening at all until the last 2 minutes. It's not done on the same course, it's done on a short course (hence the name) of which most of the mountain bike elements have been taken out to increase the speed. Yes to downhill though, absolutely, that would actually add something.
  6. But it'd be weirder if a sport, once added, can never be removed again just for the sake of not removing it. Number of participants in so many events is already ridiculously small, from a handful of weightlifters and barely half of a regular cycling peloton to eight (!) teams in synchro diving.
  7. Stuff going on in Poland, where the NADA has been hacked by a pro-Russian group. Leaked documents seem to show positive tests for among others Robert Lewandowski (steroids) and Iga Swiatek (EPO). Since it's a pro-Russian group that came with it, one might take it with an entire salt mine, but still worth keeping an eye on.
  8. Don't take it too serious, like 95% of his posts are just meant to have something to showcase his utter hatred for Europe
  9. In actual football scoring 10 in one single match is quite historic though In American football, not so much I suppose.
  10. Well well, hockey is supposed to be played on land, with a ball-like object.
  11. Which is a bit of a shame, because if countries and cities were willing, we should easily be good for another few decades. Say, 2 cities or regions in USA, 2 in Canada, 2 or 3 in Scandinavia, something in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, 1 or 2 in Asia and we're already closing in on 2070-2080. Too bad we'll never be able to add Oceania or South America to the list.
  12. There is absolutely 0 indication of this though
  13. Probably making it stricter again will lead to no interest in hosting at all anymore, like there already is so very little of.
  14. That's gonna be impossible though. For example in the men's volleyball: yes, France didn't qualify, since they got the free host quota, but did they win a medal because of that? Highly doubtful
  18. Where you can't fast forward.
  19. Please nobody say Eurovisionsports. We've just had the Olympics with HBO, I can't go back to Eurovisionsports and it's medieval website
  20. Sure, he knows in Austria it'd be difficult, but already during his active career he had mentioned more than once that he might very well one day represent his mother's country once his career in the top was done
  21. Shouldn't certain sports try and gain more of an international following first? I mean, who on earth actually cares at all about cyclocross except for Belgians and a few Dutch? And how many people even know snow volleyball exists in the first place?
  22. This week actually, it's today and tomorrow The event in Wisla is cancelled/postponed for now, due to storm damage.
  23. If the jumping is done last, the cross-country part should be done with interval starts I know it won't happen because it's not 'sexy' for the TV viewers with the attention span of a goldfish, but it would at least make it more fair, with the results in both the jumping and the skiing being decided entirely by the quality of the athletes instead of by for example hanging on in a mass start and avoiding serious time loss.
  24. With the main thing there being that his mother is Dutch, he speaks quite good Dutch (far from perfect, but surprisingly well) and he wanted to represent his mother's country as well. And indeed, without too much pressure, mostly to see what he can do. Not a fan of the wildcard thing, rules should be the same for everyone and if he's even at 70% of where he was, he'll obviously qualify and improve his start positions bit by bit.
