  1. Of course, it is the year of super rare Guatemalan medals, so don't miss the chance
  2. On one hand I agree, on the other hand I'm most of the time watching him and just thinking "nice, but normally WR's are about going to the human limits, where here it mostly feels like holding back for the financial bonus" Don't get me wrong, that is not in any way negative about him, because he is absolutely 100% right in doing it this way in the only event in which that is somewhat feasible It just feels a bit less like something amazing when you know the WR is not even the current limit, as opposed to for example running, throwing or long jumping. If you know what I mean, I realize it's hard to put exactly into words without sounding negative (which, again, I am not ).
  3. Gold for @brunamoura's coach Baiba Bendika in the mass start What a day!
  4. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. It's especially noticeable on YouTube, where FIS generally posts highlights of every World Cup in all of their sports....but especially in sports like freestyle skiing and snowboarding they don't when it's in Switzerland or Austria. Not exactly sure what it is, but there's definitely a rights thing with some FIS events in those two specific countries.
  5. I think France tried that not long ago (but indeed unsuccesfully)?
  6. I doubt it, there's not gonna be much left of that sprint by the time lap 50 or so comes around, and then you're still only a quarter of the way in
  7. Well, there's no way he is going to increase it by more than 1cm a time, because of the obvious financial bonusses every single time And judging by the margins he sometimes shows, I think 6.38m is definitely within the realm of possibilities.
  8. I thought so. Everything outside of Switzerland and Austria is usually not a problem in terms of watching either the full competition or the highlights
  9. This might be one of the most impressive results of the entire event. Gold on the pursuit and silver on the kilometer, that is some range, damn.
  10. That could have gone somewhat wrong for Mas.
  11. Huh, interesting. Those protests were done quickly, because like 1 minute after the finish he was already listed as DNF (I think my post was not much more than 5 minutes after the final)
  12. In the live results on screen? Because that could be explained by his boat crossing the line first, I assume the live system doesn't have a check in place to see if someone is still in the boat. Didn't see a replay yet though..
  13. I hope you can have a nice time despite the weather
  14. Meanwhile in the women's Tour de l'Avenir, Marion Bunel of France took the win, but someone else showed once again that she definitely is a very well developing cyclist, as we could already see for her sister at the Olympics: Fariba Hashimi with a very impressive 8th place in the GC in a super tough race. https://www.procyclingstats.com/race/tour-de-l-avenir-feminin/2024/gc
  15. Even weirder to see some light snow falling, then checking the weather and seeing it'll be back up to 30 degrees (C) within a few days. False hope for the people
  16. This raises a question I find interesting: which relatively decent swimming nations are missing from here entirely? caught my eye of course, but surely there's others? Like other countries that are known for never really being strong among juniors compared to their senior results?
  17. That was Zakhar Petrov falling out of his boat like 1 meter before the finish of the C1 500m final. Could have won, hard to say because it was super close, now it's a DNF.
  18. It may have been a barely competitive event with only a handful of people competing in it, got within two tenths of a second of what feels like a rather rare world championships medal (M2-)
  19. Which three teams should, in a normal world, be the qualifiers for the Olympics? Slovakia, Latvia and....Norway?
  20. Bronze for Olympic champion Dostal and his fiancee Paloudova in the mixed K2 500m
  21. Man, TV direction is awful, just in the finish they show the angle with which one can actually see the positions..
  22. Finals are about to start First world champs I'm ever watching and it's with non-Olympic events and missing countries. Anyhow, lots of these events look like they make more sense than some on the Olympic program anyway
  23. Bit of a mediocre website, by the way, with this somewhat vague schedule: https://tow2024.de/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Schedule.pdf It mentions weight classes in different times and sessions, but doesn't say what it actually is (group matches? finals? something?).
  24. Jakub Borgula coming up 0,1 second short of taking the lead in the junior men's sprint.
  25. I thought that'd make for a cool little article in Dutch, but then....damn, how is he not Dutch with that name? So the only Danny Jansen in Dutch sports remains this mullet and the body that's attached to it.
