  1. sure! and sometimes they come up with really absurd translations that have nothing to do with the original title... the most famous of them all is "Murder, she wrote" becoming "la signora in giallo" (literally, "the Lady in yellow*") *yellow (books/movies/tv series) is the name for thriller genre in Italy...
  2. Don Shula dies at age 90: Iconic coach left indelible mark on NFL http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001112598/article/don-shula-dies-at-age-90-iconic-coach-left-indelible-mark-on-nfl R.I.P.
  3. when my heart got broken really bad... I was already shouting a South American-alike "gooooooaaaaaaaallllll", but "Robertino" (as many Italian fans call him) just had another idea... by the way, Vancouver 2010 tournament was really a great hockey fest, with so many exciting games to be remembered for the ages (and one big, devastating disappointment...the Russian epic fail against Canada in the quarterfinals)... ah, those Olympic Games...so many wonderful memories!
  4. actually, it's about Softball... Baseball World Champs don't exist anymore...the World Champions are the World Baseball Classic winners...
  5. I'm not going to comment any prediction, but I'm pretty sure that this time we will see quite a good number of "not so logical" results, at least more than usual... this stoppage period due to coronavirus will surely have a big impact on what we're going to see next year in Tokyo (provided we are still going to have the Tokyo Games next year)...
  6. some MLB Baseball (Boston @ Chicago White Sox) from last season (May 2nd, 2019) and NHL Hockey (Minnesota @ NY Rangers) from earlier this season (last November, I don't remember the exact date)...
  7. it's shamefully dramatic... they're even going to get the most dangerous mafia-boss free...people directly or indirectly responsible for hundreds (if not thousends) of deaths... criminals released, speculators all around, selfish entrepreneurs with no interest at all for people's health, our usual corrupted and inept politicians...I'm more and more depressed and pessimistic about our Nation's perspective, about our future... p.s. and while in the rest of the Country the numbers of new positive tests and people in the ICUs is getting lower and lower day after day, here in Milan it's the opposite...they're still increasing...and so many idiots only want everything to get going as if nothing happened in the last 4 months...
  8. this free preview has been extended... at the moment, they give you access to the full service through August 31st, but changes are always possible until a final decision about if and when this season is going to resume... right now, all 4 major US sports leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL) are offering free access to their respective OTT service... not a bad way to spend some time on the couch watching sports replays... still, these days I'm rather watching a lot of Taiwanese Baseball live...and on May 5th also the Korean KBO should resume their RS play...
  9. well, first to me (and it's only an absolutely personal feeling) it's sad because I used to be a big fan of him and I always enjoyed watching him destroy his opponents... then, it's also somehow sad in general because at the time he announced before Sydney 2000 that it was going to be his last appearance on the global stage as an athlete, so that day all the sports fans were ready to celebrate him for being only the second sportsman ever in history to go unbeaten through all his career after Rocky Marciano (not counting some pro boxers of the last 20/25 years, when you have at least 4/5 world champions in each weight class and not all of them face each other in their entire life)... but unfortunately for him, that didn't happen because of a guy looking the opposite of a great athlete, opposed to a man that has always looked like a model athlete despite wrestling among the heavyweights... so, when a great achievement like that goes by, to me it's always a bit sad (even if in normal circumstance I'm more a fan of big upsets than predictable wins)... of course this is only my point of view...I know that many people have a different feeling about that day...
  10. just about Buvaisar Saitiev... unfortunately the interview is in Russian, but if someone somehow can understand (or get a translation)... about Karelin, he's my all time favourite athlete...I think he's the best ever in the history of sport (for what might count such kind of comparison)... and his loss to Gardner to me is the biggest sport upset ever... p.s. in these days I'm watching a lot of videos from past championships...I found some of the 2010 Worlds finals in Moscow...and I just can't believe Frank Chamizo was wrestling (for Cuba) at 55kg (he did even win the bronze medal!), while now he's fully fit at 74kg...
  11. tbh, no one of the main Italian nerwspapers wrote a single word about Belgium... if you read them, they are all about our government imploding on the "restart plans" and the EU help (the infamous MES/Coronabond question, which has now just become an ideological battle, with no interest for the future of our Country, but only the usual small and short term political interests among our political parties)... then, there's always some room for our football officials (they need to come back playing or 80% of our teams go bankrupt) saying everything and the opposite of everything day after day...and finally, a few reports about Trump and his madness and the danger of an excessive political influence by China... that's it...no place at all for Maggie...maybe some of the smallest trashy pamphlets (you just can't call them "newspapers") wrote a word or two about Belgium, but frankly answering to their sh*t is only wasted time...
  12. you've been unlucky... at least the main Italian audiobooks are read by true actors, sometimes even those you normally hear as the dubbers in the main movies/tv series... so, you might even not like the book itself, but sometimes you're still attracted by the voice of the people reading...
  13. until you have to study old Latin and read & translate those classical ancient Latin writers like Cicero or (the most feared and hated) Seneca, it's just like being in holiday... p.s. we laso have mandatory art classes in almost every kind of high school...and they were my most hated hours of the week (the last year in HS, I even used to skip school quite often in the days where I was supposed to attend those classes)...
  14. actually, The Plague is one of the absolute bestsellers in these weeks in Italy... I guess most of those who read it are a bunch of masochists...but I didn't know that there are so many of them in my Country... personally, now I'm reading a book about the life and death of the Inca Empire...quite interesting subject...
  15. right now... Taiwanese Pro Baseball, CPBL (Uni President 7-Eleven Lions @ Chinatrust Brothers), live on Twitch.tv
  16. the ioc has tried many times to set up a law to not allow any previously caught cheater to take part into the Games anymore in their life, but CAS has always rejected those attempts... and they also cancelled the 8-year ban some IFs tried to apply to the 1st time caught cheaters... it's not easy to fight against a world that most times has more regard for the criminals than the victims...
  17. limit cancelled because of that thing called "Skateboarding"... now it's up to the single federations only to set up some kind of reasonable age limit (and I fear some IFs are not going for the right decisions)...
  18. that one! the only fair repechage system... I still regret those times...even if I don't regret at all that kind of Judo... recently I had the chance to watch once again many Judo Olympic Finals from those epic Nineties and Sydney 2000 Games...and frankly I'm really surprised to see how much the fighting style has changed (and it's changed in a positive way) in this last 10 years... even London 2012 seems to be held in another century because of the rule difference with today's sport...
  19. oh, I know that... in Italian, it's "Cren"... good feeling, but still...I like a lot more chili pepper, better if it's fresh, which gives it also a very nice smell other its usual spicy taste...
  20. yeah, my dad foced me to change it and get back to our usual "classic" Soverato chili pepper, which is nothing compared to that... but I can tell you...a good dish of "spaghetti olio, aglio e peperoncino" with the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion was absolutely a "priceless" experience... p.s. one day I have to try the Carolina Reaper...I know...I'm crazy, but I love spicy hot flavours...
  21. even worse than true Japanese Wasabi? p.s. however, any sort of horseradish-related sausage is nothing compared to the hottest chili peppers in the world...as a big chili pepper fan, I tried to keep a plant of Trinidad Moruga Scorpion on my balcony...using that, it's a really mystic experience... it looks so innocent... but if you eat it...it's the Devil inside you... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trinidad_Moruga_scorpion
  22. sure! why not? they're a large corporation with interests all over the world... they're involved in many sports in many different Countries...internationally only with sponsorship contracts, at home (in Japan) as true team owners... in Italian... https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rakuten in English... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rakuten
  23. @MHSN finally, we have some official news about Shamil Kudiiamagomedov... and it's not good news at all... after the 2018 European Champs, he sustained a really bad injury in training and underwent surgery to his hip... unfortunately, he hasn't fully recovered yet...and our coach Lucio Caneva also said that the problem is really serious and he's not sure at all that Shamil can ever get back to 100% and continue his pro wrestling career... so, most likely Italy lost one of their best weapons even before they could truly take advantage of his switch to our Nation... by the way, the most important thing of them all is that Shamil can at least recover from that injury so to have a fully normal life...good luck to him...
