  1. good question...I fear that they would eventually go down to the team ranking points...and the representative from the team higher in the 2019 ISA Worlds final ranking would finally prevail... but this is just my logical interpretation, based on the criteria they will use also for some reallocation of the WSL spots (where they will go down to the team world champion at the ISA Games having priority for a 3rd surfer if the WSL ranking can't fill all the established quota places)... actually, I don't have (and I fear nobody has) any clue about such kind of situation (hoping it doesn't happen, so we don't have toworry about it)...
  2. by the way, this is a quick recap of the women's tournament so far... the 12 girls still in contention are: round 6 Silvana Lima Tatiana Weston-Webb Bianca Buitendag Sofia Mulanovich repechage 8A Anat Lelior Stephanie Gilmore Sally Fitzgibbons Courtney Conlogue repechage 8B Caroline Marks Brisa Hennessy Carissa Moore Nikki Van Dijk as explained in the posts above, the competition format is quite complicated... - the top 2 of the round #6 heat will advance directly to the Final - the 3rd and 4th ranked of the round #6 heat will be relegated to the repechage heat #10 - the top 2 of the repechage heats #8A and 8B will advance to the repechage heat #9 - the 3rd and 4th ranked of the repechage heats #8A and #8B are eliminated and ranked from 9th to 12th place in the overall standings - the top 2 of the repechage heat #9 will advance to the repechage heat #10 - the 3rd and 4th ranked in the repechage heat #9 are eliminated and ranked 7th and 8th respectively in the overall standings - the top 2 of the repechage heat #10 will advance to the Final - the 3rd and 4th ranked in the repechage heat #10 are eliminated and ranked 5th and 6th respectively in the overall standings - the 4 girls contesting the Final are ranked accordingly to the results of that heat...the top 3 will get Gold, Silver and Bronze medal respectively... I hope you didn't get too much of a headache, now...
  3. yeah, they like to make it really complicated...I think the WSL format is way better than this...heats, head-to-head repechage and then a simple knockout stage with no further complication...
  4. sure? those in round #6 should be 6th at worst... correct me, if I'm wrong... the top 2 in round 6 will advance to the final, meanwhile the 3rd and 4th ranked should go to the repechage #10 with only 1 heat of 4 surfers (and the top 2 advancing to the final, meanwhile the 3rd and 4th ranked should end the competition as 5th and 6th)... because repechage 9 should feature only 1 heat of 4 surfers, the top 2 of the 2 rep. 8 heats (with 2 advancing from rep. 9 to rep. 10)... 7th and 8th overall should be the 2 rep. 9 losers...
  5. yes, she's guaranteed a top 6 finish, if I'm not wrong about the competition format (in any case, there are only 12 girls left, so she can't be worse than 12th)...
  6. yeah...frankly I've never been able to understand that classification...it looks so stupid...
  7. it's because those 2 weights have been created by merging the old bantam+feather (it was 54 and 57) and the old Lightweights+light welterweights (it was 60 and 64) to cut from 10 to 8 the total number of weight classes... therefore, as they don't have an official name for the new classes, there's some confusion within the media, calling the new weights with one or the other old name indifferently... that's why I agree at 100% with @heywoodu...they should just name them by their actual weight limit and stop... I mean, the names are absolutely relative...for instance, to me 91kg are small men, just like flyweights
  8. yes, of course he is... I don't know why I wrote the wrong name...
  9. MTB Women's Cross-Country World Cup Final Overall Rankings 1st, Kate Courtney, 1772 pts 2nd, Jolanda Neff, 1742 pts 3rd, Pauline Ferrand-Prevot, 1575 pts MTB Men's Cross-Country World Cup Final Overall Rankings 1st, Nino Schurter, 1995 pts 2nd, Mathieu Van Der Poel, 1649 pts 3rd, Henrique Avancini, 1565 pts Full Rankings can be found in this page: https://www.uci.org/mountain-bike/events/mercedes-benz-uci-mountain-bike-world-cup

  11. Italy, instead, only have 5 boxers in Ekaterinburg, with only 2 of them being the real top tier of the team... Salvatore Cavallaro is seeded no.4 in the -75kg class and has a quite easy route to the semis...if he's in top shape and the judges don't kill him, he should get a bronze medal... meanwhile our raising star, Aziz Mouhiddine, didn't have a favourable draw in the men's -91kg...he's set to fight against Vassily Levit in the quarterfinals, which means that he won't come home with a medal no matter what happens on the ring...not in a tournament held under aiba organization, at least...
  12. actually, Argentina is starting in Ekaterinburg...without specifically searching for that, I saw a fighter named Brian Agustin Allegri in the -69kg class (facing a man from in round #1)... and Daniel Francisco Veron in the -75kg class (facing Adam Chartoi in round #1)...
  13. they only count results from the aiba sanctioned tournaments through the year...if you don't send a team there, you don't have any chance to be seeded at the world champs... and considering that most of those tournaments are spread around the world in some 3rd world Nations, it's quite obvious that many teams from Europe tend to skip those trips, meanwhile those Countries who host a tournament or benefit from the aiba developing program (that pays the travel tips to them) have a lot more chances, despite their fighters are not the best nor the most well known in our area...
  14. back to normality, with 6 home wins out of 8 matches... and the German champions Adler Mannheim add to the list of teams already mathematically qualified to the knockout stage after only 4 rounds of play... now the Champions Hockey League takes a pause, leaving the center stage to the National Leagues, almost all of them set to begin in the next weekend... the Continental tournament will be back in October with Game Day #5 (8th and 9th) and #6 (15th and 16th), to close the group stage... see you in a month or so...

  17. he was there just for the World Champs...now we're back to the normal crew...
  18. yes, there's a 5th-8th place PO... by the way, NED lost, but ITA won only 2-1 at the 10th inning against CRO (who yesterday drove Spain crazy, too)... until now, CRO are the most pleasant surprise of the tournament, despite the 2 losses in 2 games...let's see if they can also win a match when they face a weaker opponent in the next few days...
  19. Stage #7 (Snowshoe, USA) Women's Short Circuit Race Gold: Jenny Rissveds Silver: Pauline Ferrand-Prevot Bronze: Kate Courtney Men's Short Circuit Race Gold: Nino Schurter Silver: Titouan Carod Bronze: Jordan Sarrou
  20. Italy are also not even close to what they could be with their best MLB/Triple A players... however, I don't think this Israeli team is good enough to beat NED and ITA in the OQT...they're not even close to the group they were at the last World Baseball Classic (and also in that tournament they didn't have an impressive pitching staff, it was all about their batsmen)...
  21. as expected, Japan totally dominated the field in their home K1PL stage... meanwhile, among the other Nations, we had the usual very balanced spread of medals... today wasn't a good day for Italy at all... after Bottaro very close win over Ono in the women's Kata bronze medal match, first Semeraro threw away a bronze medal, losing in a very stupid and inaccurate way to the Chinese Gong (however, with Zaretska's win, it doesn't change anything in Olympic perspective...unless a real miracle happen, she has to rely only on the continental spot, if she wants to avoid the risk of the final OQT next year...I think she doesn't have any chance anymore to make the Olympics through the OQR), then Ferracuti lost badly to Uekusa (even if it was expected, it's always painful to watch a girl having such a poor outing as Clio did earlier today) and Crescenzo couldn't do anything against his nemesis, Assadilov...when he faces this Kazakh guy, he's absolutely clueless...the Asian is faster and stronger (and today he was also smarter) under any aspect of the game...
