  4. no, as usual our coaches will give more athletes the chance to participate (and of course there will be also the relay specialists, who are not listed here) we can't afford to be "strict" like USA and/or AUS, we always have discretionary places chosen by the technical director
  5. p.s. I forgot the Taekwondo Grand Prix finals on Saturday and Sunday
  6. earlier Today, Biathlon WC and Swimming (Italian Winter Nationals) right now, some casual Football (Europa and Conference League) in the next few days, Wintersports full immersion (Speedskating, Alpine Skiing and Biathlon above all, but not only of course); Judo (Tokyo Grand Slam tournament); Basketball (Euroleague); Football (men's Sub-17 World Cup Final); some Hockey (NHL and European domestic leagues); maybe some Handball (women's World Champs)
  7. Sante Gaiardoni, one of the all time greats of Track Cycling (double Olympic Champion in Rome 1960) passed away at the age of 84 https://www.reuters.com/sports/cycling/italian-double-olympic-champion-gaiardoni-dies-84-2023-11-30/
  8. in the official calendar of the entire Olympic Games you can find the race list day by day (not the detailed minute by minute session schedule, but still)
  9. Quick recap after the Italian Winter Nationals Swimmers qualified to the Olympic Games (and to the World Championships, of course) Benedetta Pilato (women's 100m Breaststroke) Thomas Ceccon (men's 100m Backstroke) Alessandro Miressi (men's 100m Freestyle) Gregorio Paltrinieri (men's 1500m Freestyle) Alberto Razzetti (men's 200m IM and men's 400m IM) Swimmers qualified "only" to the World Championships Previously qualified thanks to Fukuoka 2023 Results: Anita Bottazzo (women's 50m Breaststroke) Sara Franceschi (women's 400m IM) Benedetta Pilato (women's 50m Breaststroke) Simona Quadarella (women's 800m e nei 1500m Freestyle) Thomas Ceccon (men's 50m Fly & 50m Backstroke) Leonardo Deplano (men's 50m Freestyle) Nicolò Martinenghi (men's 50m e 100m Breaststroke) Gregorio Paltrinieri (men's 800m Freestyle) Qualified from the Italian Winter Nationals: Simone Cerasuolo (men's 50m Breaststroke) Michele Lamberti (men's 100m Backstroke) Lorenzo Mora (men's 200m Backstroke) Ludovico Blu Art Viberti (men's 100m Breaststroke)
  10. 3rd and final Day at the Italian Winter Nationals Alberto Razzetti confirmed himself as the Italian swimmer currently in best shape, swimming a new NR (and OQT) also in the men's 400m IM he clocked 4.09.29, improving by more than half a second the old record, held by Luca Marin since January 2007, when he won the bronze medal at that year's World Champs (behind people like Phelps and Lochte and beating Laszlo Cseh) Alessandro Miressi also got the OQT by winning the men's 100m Freestyle in 47.61 Simona Quadarella (women's 800m Freestyle, 8.25.87), Benedetta Pilato (women's 50m Breaststroke, 29.65), Niccolò Martinenghi and Simone Cerasuolo (men's 50m Breaststroke, 26.71 and 26.83 respectively) "only" recorded World Championships Qualifying Times Federico Burdisso, instead, missed the World Champs QT by just 2/100 of a second (he swum the men's 200m Fly in 1.55.11, while it was required 1.55.0), but his time however is ecouraging, as it's his fastest race since Tokyo (when he won the bronze medal) everything else, better to forget it as quick as possible
  11. Italian Winter Nationals Day #2 2 more Olympic Qualification Times and 2 World Champs Qualifying efforts today in Riccione Thomas Ceccon won "his" men's 100m Backstroke in 52.82 and officially earned the OQP in the same event, Michele Lamberti (son of the 1991 world champion and former world record holder over the men's 200m Free, Giorgio), swum 53.76, which is his new PB and gives him the World Champs pass in the women's 100m Breastroke, Benedetta Pilato won the race in 1.05.80 (she "died" in the last 15m, after it looked that she was going to swim a monster PB in the first 80m thanks to a 30.89 "easy" split halfway through the distanced) and got the OQP in the men's 100m Breastroke, Ludovico Blu Art Viberti surprised the more famous opponents (2022 world champion and Tokyo bronze medallist Niccolò Martinenghi, but also 2022 European silver medallist Federico Poggio) in 59.38, which is a new PB and gives him a World Champs pass all the other races, no comment
  12. I don't follow club volleyball, so I just can't say anything... looking at the individual stats, he's doing fine this season...maybe he's found the best environment for him to perform in Trento however, he would be just the replacement for Romanò and Bovolenta, I guess...a sort of ensurance in case of injury of our primary choices (as it is now, with Romanò out a few weeks for an abdominal injury...luckily, there's no NT volleyball right now) even if they wrote that he might even be ahead of Bovolenta, who's our next big thing, but he's still very young and playing in the not so demanding 2nd tier league this year (they also wrote that Rychlicki's a good teammate and a good presence in the locker room, which is something De Giorgi appreciates a lot) we'll see what happens next Summer
  13. formerly from (despite the clear Polish heritage) Kamil Rychlicki might start playing for in the next international competitions (he got the passport already 11 months ago and he hasn't played NT international volleyball for years) currently he's one of the best "opposite hitters" in the Superlega for Trento (the same team of Micheletto, Lavia and Sbertoli)
  14. very disappointing day #1 at the Italian Winter Nationals as already reported, only 2 swimmers earned their spot for the Olympic Games (Gregorio Paltrinieri, men's 1500m Freestyle and Alberto Razzetti, men's 200m IM) while Paltrinieri's clocking is nothing special (not even close to his ER and this year's world medallists), Razzetti's 1.56.21 is a huge PB, new National Record and it would have given him the 4th place in Fukuoka 3rd and last good news is Lorenzo Mora's 1.57.23 (equalled his PB) in the men's 200m Backstroke, which is good for the qualification to Doha's World Champs (still far from the Olympic qualification time, though) Thomas Ceccon just took a bath in the men's 50m Fly, winning comfortably in 23.11
  15. Streaming coverage here (not sure a VPN will be required from abroad, maybe it will work also without it ) https://www.raiplay.it/guidatv?channel=rai-sport&date=28-11-2023
  16. Stage #1 ( Val Thorens) Mixed Team Relay Gold: Emily Harrop & Thibault Anselmet Silver: Ana Alonso Rodriguez & Oriol Cardona Coll Bronze: Giulia Murada & Nicolò Ernesto Canclini Full Ranking and Results http://www.ismf-ski.org/intranet/uploaded/PDF_output/2024/WC-ValThorens-MixedRelay.pdf
  17. yes, this year they adopted the same format of the CC Skiing Sprint Races
  18. https://speedskatingresults.com/
  19. no, don't worry just don't name that thing anymore
  20. because only the Top 2 in each semifinal heat make it through to the final, then the 2 best times are the "lucky losers" (like in CC skiing sprint races) Today the 2nd semifinal was quicker than the first, so Murada couldn't advance to the final 6
  21. it depends on what's a non-mainstream event in your area (or for you) for instance, in Italy all Wintersports (except maybe for Alpine Skiing) are definitely non-mainstream events so, the European Curling GMM (Women) or the Biathlon WC race I just saw are among them however, Today I'm all in with Wintersports (Curling, CC Skiing, Biathlon, Alpine Skiing, NK) & Hockey (main European Domestic Leagues and NHL)
  22. no! and I could become a killer if someone would even think about it Fencing is as good as it is NOW! it doesn't need any change, except for a better TV/streaming coverage
  23. Stage #1 ( Val Thorens) Men's Sprint Gold: Oriol Cardona Silver: Inigo Martinez Bronze: Thibault Anselmet Full Ranking and Results http://www.ismf-ski.org/intranet/uploaded/PDF_output/2024/WC-ValThorens-Sprint-result.pdf
  24. Stage #1 ( Val Thorens) Women's Sprint Gold: Caroline Ulrich Silver: Tove Alexandersson Bronze: Marianna Jagercikova @hckošice Full Ranking and Results http://www.ismf-ski.org/intranet/uploaded/PDF_output/2024/WC-ValThorens-Sprint-result.pdf
