  1. and here we go, the neverending farce is still on! after more than 3 months, LEN decided to award the controversial medals (and the respective prize money) of the 25km races at the Swimming European Championships held last Summer in Rome Full story: LEN ANNOUNCES REVISION OF OPEN WATER SWIMMING RESULTS Following an extensive investigation into incidents at two LEN Open Water events, where the safety of athletes had been compromised, LEN has decided to revise the competition results and has set up a process to create a new LEN Technical Open Water Swimming Committee (TOWSC). LEN decided to open an independent investigation into the Open Water Swimming events in Ostia (The European Championships 25 km held on August 20, 2022) and Kiel (LEN OWS Cup leg held on August 26, 2022) during its Executive meeting in Split on September 9, to reinforce the principle that the safety of athletes must be the number 1 priority. The investigation was conducted by the independent UK based company Quest, working alongside a subject matter expert. They performed interviews and analyzed feedback from questionnaires to establish the facts and draw up the following conclusions: * The decision to suspend the 25KM race in Ostia by the Chief Referees and Safety Office after over 3 hours was made in accordance with the FINA rules and had a clear rationale. * The decision to overrule the suspension by the TOWSC Commission was in breach with the FINA Open Water rules and caused confusion among swimmers and coaches. The TOWSC decision not to award medals for that event was incorrect. Based on these recommendations, the LEN Executive set up a Special Committee who requested that the Chief Referees at the two events establish an athlete ranking at the time of the race suspension. This was then verified by study of the relevant TV footage. With this information at hand, the LEN Bureau has decided to honour the performance of the athletes and award medals and prize money for the 25KM races of the European Championships based on the ranking established by the Chief Referees, which is as follows: Men's Results 1 SANZULLO Mario 2 VERANI Dario 3 FURLAN Matteo 4 REYMOND Axel 5 SCHOUTEN Marcel 6 KOZUBEK Matej 7 BOTTELIER Lars 8 SARKANY Zalan 9 WASCHBURGER Andreas 10 LANGNER Ben 11 STRAKA Martin 12 MAGNE Matthieu 13 VERPLAETSE Alexandre DNF GALICZ Peter Chief Referee: Volkan Unutmaz Women's Results 1 JOUISSE Caroline 2 POZZOBON Barbara 3 SANTONI Veronica 4 GRANGEON DE VILLELE Lara 5 POU Lisa 6 BALOGH Vivien 7 CICCARELLA Silvia 8 LINKA Elea 9 VAS Luca Chief Referee: Malul Itzhak Medals will be awarded at an appropriate moment in the coming months and prize money will be paid accordingly. New Open Water Committee to reinforce key principles The investigators, the Special Committee and the Executive made several observations during the investigation process and their conclusion was that: * Safety needs to be the highest priority and concern at any LEN open water competition. * Procedures need to be strengthened, clearly communicated, and documented. As a result, the LEN Bureau has decided that there is a need for stronger leadership skills and knowledge of Open Water Swimming Rules and appropriate procedures in the Technical Open Water Swimming Committee. This will help to ensure safe races and further development of the Open Water Swimming discipline of our sport. The LEN Bureau has decided to form a new Technical Open Water Committee based on a skills matrix. All federations will soon be able to submit candidates based on the required skills. Applications will also be accepted from members of the current TOWSC, that is currently suspended.
  2. Lukas Hofer is out of the 1st World Cup stage (and maybe even more than that) because he has an inflammation of the tibial tendon of the left leg. he also had a lot of troubles through the whole Summer, so I fear it's gonna be a very difficult season for him (and considering that Windisch and Bormolini stopped their career at the end of last season, I fear it's gonna be a very difficult season for the whole Italian men's team).
  3. nothing against , but I'm so, so happy won this match I could barely keep some tears in the end... well done, guys! Hope they're not gonna waste the chance of their life against and qualify for the knockout stage
  4. Stage #1 ( Val Thorens) Men's Sprint Race Gold: Arno Lietha Silver: Iwan Arnold Bronze: Thomas Bussard
  5. disaster for Italy in the men's race... 4X vs 2X in the big final
  6. Stage #1 ( Val Thorens) Women's Sprint Race Gold: Emily Harrop Silver: Marianne Fatton Bronze: Giulia Murada
  7. here more info about this weekend's and the following stages' coverage. https://tv.ismf-ski.org/
  8. Round #1 in Val Thorens Men and Women's Sprint Races live now on Youtube we're already at the women's Final... @hckošice is in
  9. Yeah, they normally butcher the whole name also here, but sometimes they intentionally repeat only their family name as a (bad) joke
  10. In Italy it works perfectly (run 1, the 2nd I haven't tried).
  11. Azzurri in difficoltà anche al maschile...sono sotto 3-1 al sesto end
  12. who, Adani? did he start to enjoy some "snow" once again?
  14. man, at least it was quick. I know people who have suffered so much through a very long period (years) because of that terrible disease. R.I.P. Börje
  15. it should be 4 years, through the 2025/2026 season (but the only article naming the lenght of the agreement is behind a pay-wall, so I can't read it in its entirety).
  16. this world cup isn't interesting until January, when the new powerhouse comes into play... just kidding, but only partially...because will really start competing only in January and because it looks that we're truly making a big jump ahead in the rankings thanks to our brand new "gurus" (Willy Schneider & Thomas Plätzer) and their coaching staff. there's a lot of hype for this team in our small Wintersports world, especially after the first Intercontinental & European Cup results.
  17. Scozia che infligge agli azzurri la prima sconfitta...e che poi ritroveremo pure in semifinale. nel frattempo, semifinale femminile tra e in parità (4-4) dopo 6 end.
  18. only 5 "Kim" and not a single "Park"... I'm really disappointed with this Korean team...

  22. why? it's a wonderful sport... sure, Ice Hockey is always the best sport in the world, but also this "diminutive version" has its own charm...
  23. yeah, but always for Belgium, if they play field hockey
  24. don't forget losing 10-1 against in 1982
