  5. World Cup Finals ( Doha) from Today through Saturday
  6. men are for real Edin & co. edged out once again by Retornaz & co. thanks to some good tactics in the 9th end, which led to steal the 2 winning stones now the guys are the solitary leaders with a 4-0 record and 2 very important wins vs and were also recorded by the women, who now are 4W - 1L in the standings
  7. interesting article... https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/marine-worm-haemoglobin-could-be-the-new-frontier-of-blood-doping/
  8. defeated in the women's tournament by a score of 7-6, after a senseless tactical management of the last end they got really lucky as skip missed the last shot to at least tie (if not actually win) the match
  9. it's clearly a water section in an equestrian cross-country course they're lucky that they at least removed the fences to jump over
  10. Awesome Australia beat India to win the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup The majority of a packed and partisan crowd arrived at the Narendra Modi Stadium hoping to see the host nation end their decade-long wait for a major ICC trophy win. But it was Australia who delivered on the day. The Australian bowling attack combined to turn the screw after a fast-paced powerplay, bowling India out for 240. And Travis Head was the star with the bat, hitting an inspired century to win Australia’s men their sixth ICC Cricket World Cup crown. Victory for Australia is a crowning moment in what has been a phenomenal year for Pat Cummins’ side across formats, adding to their win over India in the World Test Championship final in June and their subsequent retention of the Ashes. Tasked with a target of 241 to win the World Cup, Australia got off to a fast but shaky start in the face of a new-ball assault from India’s seam attack. David Warner (7), Mitchell Marsh (15) and Steven Smith (4) all departed cheaply as Australia slipped to 47/3 inside the opening seven overs, with Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah taking the wickets. But a superb partnership between Head and Marnus Labuschagne won it for Australia, with Head hitting a stunning century and Labuschagne playing the foil at the other end, bedding in with a resolute half-century of his own. Head was caught in the deep with just one run needed to win the game, departing to a standing ovation from his teammates having scored 137 from 120 runs. And Glenn Maxwell scored the winning runs as Australia claimed victory with six wickets and seven overs to spare. the Final, beat by 6 wickets game details https://www.cricketworldcup.com/match/102738
  11. not looking good for the Home Nation after the 1st inning bat first and only posted 240/all out in 50 overs (despite a threatening start very early in the game, but then their pace constantly slowed down through the following overs) update: and just when looked to have started with the boost also in their turn with the bat, the usual suspect, Mohammad Shami, got the very important wicket on David Warner in the 2nd over
  12. according to the "classic" conditions you can find on a glacier, late March/early April would be perfect (even if we can't be sure of anything about weather nowadays) well, it happened quite regularly in the 80's...speed races in Las Lenas and technical disciplines in and but then the powerful European (actually, Austrian and Swiss) sponsors and TV networks, the increasing travelling costs which strangled the small teams and the same "Southern" locations being reluctant to spend money to improve the infrastructure on site convinced the FIS to scratch those events from the WC calendar which is a shame
  13. but when I wrote that post it wasn't...it was the moment when was destroying bowlers and their chances looked already done and dusted luckily, the 2nd part of the match turned out to be more entertaining than what it looked in that precise moment
  14. in the 10K? yes, we deeply count on that because we can say "safe" for anything related to short track nor an alpine skier named Sofia Goggia or a snowboard discipline like snowboardcross and we won't even have the chance to take advantage of a home track in luge and skeleton as a matter of fact, we're only competitive in very "risky" disciplines, that race in speedskating is the only "performance" event in which we start with heavy chances of winning the gold medal (at least for what we've seen last year)
  15. and our basically only "safe" gold at the Home Olympics is suddenly gone!
  16. very, very unlikely, but yeah...under some circumstances, it might even happen
  17. didn't know that I wish them all the best p.s. physically, I'm feeling very, very bad though
  18. I'm in mourning... I'm already KO because of a flu, and now this (and the women's DH cancelled)...definitely not my best weekend p.s. let's hope that Eitrem vs Ghiotto doesn't end up like in last season's world cup final
  19. yeah, for the 1st gold in a sport where we already won some medals, Volleyball (and Beach Volleyball) are the most likely to happen, sooner or later maybe even Rhythmic Gymnastics
  20. for it could only be Sport Climbing (Matteo Zurloni, reigning Speed world champion) or Golf (very unlikely, but Le Golf National is the course where all the Italians have their best performances on the tour...Migliozzi did even won that tournament last year -or 2 years ago? ) I refuse to take into consideration Breakdance (even if there's a small chance in the women's event)
  21. the Final vs next Sunday, November19th at 9.30 a.m. CET in Ahmedabad
  22. they tried, they tried really hard...but it was too little, too late Semifinal #2, beat by 3 wickets and advance to the big Final on Sunday scored 212/all out in 49.4 overs, completed the chase with 215/7 in 47.2 overs game details https://www.cricketworldcup.com/match/102739
  23. won the toss and chose to bat (which is the most obvious choice of the entire CWC) but nothing went according to plan for them, as bowlers dominated the game and didn't let any chance to post a decent score completed their offensive inning with just a miserable 212/all out in 49.4 overs I don't see how they will be capable to defend that... they need more than a miracle (which actually already happened in the past, but they were on the wrong side )
