  1. We all want Wright, but let's be frank - it's not happening.

  3. The constant gate changing is the most infuriating thing. Every time a jumper makes a good jump, lower the gate... Like they want to take the fun out of the competition. Everybody wants to see big jumps, not "safe" jumps. How is it fair in a direct knockout, when Lindvik does his jump from one position, then Zyla gets a lower one when it's a head-2-head competition...
  4. The old forums results sections were a real treasure. If you were looking for something, there was a 95% chance it would be here. All the important events were updated regularly, with results, competitions, schedules, standings. For the big sports, or the ones i follow closely, like football, tennis, FIS, cycling, darts etc., there are enough places, which i have on speed-typing or in my memory, which i can use faster. But that is probably 5-10% of all sports. But for the rest, the forum was my go to site, when i wanted to see some other results or competitions. Rowing, gymnastics, shooting, fencing, table tennis, weightlifting, skeleton, speed skating, short track. I don't know these sports sites, federations, how they post their results. It would take me much more time to find them, rather than come here, go to the Rowing thread and see the most recent results sub-threads, with the results, standings, quotas etc. These things now i look on Wikipedia and pray it is updated regularly ever since we lost the old forum. Also many sports have awful sites, when it comes to regularly updated information or general usefulness for sports fans like us. I have had a real headache, when looking for stuff, which are not for the major sports. There are hundreds of sites for tennis, but try looking for weightlifting, or boxing (AIBA), for which there are 2-3 useful sites at most.. I commend the idea and if there are users who would want to do this massive work, hats off.
  5. They are doing the challengers again.. I thought it was going to be the normal 10. Oh well, then a hundred percent she is doing a one night match.
  6. I will be surprised if she plays another BDO tournament, after that performance in the Worlds and all the promotion she got / is for the PDC. A World Series of Darts spot is already given to her and i would say a 60-70% chance to shock and put her in the Premier League.
  7. Don't know if there is a better resort than Toblach right now. It's always sunny, no problems with the snow, perfect conditions. I can't recall there being any problems with the starts in the last couple of years.
  8. Having the Games in Indonesia would be awesome, but it's in no reality possible.
  9. Not at all. Everyone is free to express themselves. It's like i said, more of a morale stand point.
  10. Again, goes both ways. Why should children be exposed to behaviour, which is not in our culture and has not been accepted by the majority of the nation? PS. Should have been in bed already. Damn me for joining the politics thread late at night.
  11. Of course, i was just giving an example of a possible situation. And here is another one. Why is it not acceptable to walk naked in public? Because it offends people. If there is a naked man (or woman) walking freely in Holland will they arrest him for inappropriate behaviour? He is just minding his own business. Two men kissing isn't commenly accepted and people get offended by it. The difference is there is no law against it and the cops won't come. They can kiss all they want in public, if they have no problem with the amount of scandals and cursing they would receive.
  12. Person A has the right to moan about a thing he doesn't like, just like persons B and C can moan about what person D is doing around the corner, for example butchering meat and person B and C don't like meat and make a scandal / comment. Person D is not the one to blame for the scandal.
  13. I second what Monzanator said on this topic. If two women are holding hands or even kissing in public, no one will care much or notice. It's a general feel, that females can be more close and touchy with each other and men frankly enjoy it. They would have to be really in your face, "look at us, we are lesbians, we have/demand rights" for other people to make a fuss. For men it's different of course. For a lack of better term, if it's a Bro thing amongst friends or a sporting celebration / play / hanging out, there is no problem if men are hugging, jumping one another, kissing on the cheek, grabbing the but But the moment it seems or feels like it's being in an erotic way, be prepared for cursing and shouting, or the very least people talking behind your back, when they want to carry with their day without a scandal.
  14. Both sides should just accept one anothers beliefs and just stop beating the dead horse. The sooner that happens, the better it will be for everyone. I'm not a supporter of the LGBT and don't think it's way people should live their life, but should they be arrested and beaten - of course not. Everyone should be able to live a happy life, without hurting and offending other people, no matter who they are. If a friend of mine comes out as gay, will i change my attitude towards him, definitely not. The same thing goes for the other side. LGBT people and their supporters should accept, that there are people not sharing their beliefs. If they are not physically and mentally abusing LGBT people, there should be no reason, why those people are constantly labeled as homophobes, bigotes etc. There shouldn't be a reason why Monzanator and Olympian1010 can't sit on the same table, drinking bear, watching sports, talking about movies, books, planets etc., even though they clash on this particular topic.
  15. The half hour show is what they have always shown, at least of the things i remember from the last 10 years. I wouldn't expect something more. It's lost some of it's magic i'm afraid. They would never allow them to do the things that were in Africa nowadays. I still remember a view years ago, there was a rain out day and Eurosport showed archived clips from epic moments from the past. They were one of the most memorable and remarkable sporting moments i have ever seen to this day.
  16. Just can't see Van Gerwen losing to anyone, even if he plays badly.
  17. Good to see that the big names are not boycotting, because it is in Saudi Arabia. Also, let me guess. This is a another big event, which Eurosport is not going to show..
  18. Also, the bigger reason why the Tour has seen an overall decline in interest is the athletes fault. When they don't take it seriously, why should the fans. Competing only for the sprints and then abandon; Being to far behind in the GC and why bother continuing -> abandon; Not many rest days, too much energy, gonna ruin the rest of the season -> abandon Skip the whole Tour to focus on the other events (Worlds), doing training's or just resting. FIS is only shifting events to try and have the best athletes all competing. The Final Climb mass starts is BS, but i can understand why they are trying to change things.
  19. But don't we have the same thing 27 times in the current way. I'm suggesting to make it at least 17-10. I'm all in, in having more variety in the starts. Why don't make a full knockout start with a tennis bracket? The qualifications are mostly useless, so why not use them to make a top 32 bracket in some events and have a knockout competition over 2 days. Have 4 such weekends in a season, one in each month and have a small globe for the jumper with the most points from the 4 competitions.
  20. In my experience, the main reason people start losing interest in sports is because of the athletes. Either their favorites don't compete anymore, or someone who they don't like starts dominating. It's not because of the disciplines, the schedules or the procedures. If there is no one you are invested in, it's very hard to get behind the race. Like you said, you were most interested in the Lukas Bauer era. Because you were growing up with him, and he is czech and he was winning. It's easy when things align in such a perfect way to be hooked up in the race every year. If he was competing in presented day, you probably wouldn't mind the sprints and Mass starts that much. This is so much true for me. If i look 10 years in the past, football, tennis and F1 were my top 3 sports all the time. Now those three are almost completely ignored by me and pretty much reduced to checking the scores and highlights here and there.
  21. The knockout system is much more interesting, than the normal one. I don't know why, they still don't use it in more events. At least in the so-called "mini tours" or the Raw Air. And the normal system can be used for the individual WC starts, which are not affiliated with a bigger classification.
  22. Snowboard has basically the same 3 events in half-pipe, big air and slopestyle, where the same athletes can compete. It's bad enough they cut a Parallel event for them. Why should they deserve an increase in the quotas? The same can be said for Freestyle, where they even have Aerials. They should be happy to be under the FIS umbrella, because they got all those events in the Olympic program. There are enough chances for Australia, China, UK etc. to have their medals now.
