  1. Yeah, if they take 1-2 quotas away from those countries then there will be a lot of reallocations! As for Azerbaijan, in theory 1-1=0... But we are talking about Azerbaijan here so I guess it could be 1-1+x=x
  2. In the final 3 kilometres to be exact.
  3. The quotas that were taken from Romania will also be reallocated. So, one more for both genders. Btw, already qualified in men's, so they can't get women's quota.
  4. Nicaragua is probably the big favourite for tripartite quota place in women's weightlifting. And I would like to see Marshall Islands getting a wild card, they competed at Worlds last year and had some medals at Pacific Games. On the other hand, Tuvalu and Solomon Islands must get a wild card, otherwise they will compete only in athletics, what would be sad... This is probably the only thing they applied for anyway. Kiribati too if they fail to qualify. I think it's safe to assume that New Zealand won't be sending weightlifters, even if they do qualify.
  5. For Croatia, we didn't qualify in men's quadruple sculls in rowing, after winning silver in London. And we won't qualify there. Though, 3 out of 4 members of that crew have qualified for Rio in different events (single and double sculls). So, technically, David Šain is the only medalist in that crew that has failed to qualify.
  6. This is the points scale: 28, 25, 23, 22, 21, 20, 19... Only the previously unqualified nations take points. In women's +75, UZB took 28, IND 25, MGL 23, UAE 22+21. UZB missing last attempt would give them 0. IND 28, MGL 25, UAE 23+22. That would put UAE ahead of TKM.
  7. qualify in men's weightlifting. Syria had a very successful day. Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka drop out of the qualification zone on the final day.
  8. It would be Palau then. Maybe one of the girls in K2 will compete in K1? Btw, Palau would still get their quota in that scenario.
  9. Turkmenistan did it! Though, they came very close to losing quota in the last moment... Uzbekistani lifter was playing with fire... Had she bombed out, UAE would have qualified.
  10. Hopefully Syria can pull it off here. They are most likely going to compete only in athletics and swimming if they fail here, what would be sad.
  11. Yeah, Japan is likely qualifier through Worlds, if it even happens. They are running out of time for corrections... There should be a fairly good chance that next best nation from here will qualify if Japan gets promoted, unless two or more nations tie on points or something.
  12. Turkmenistani girl did what she had to. Now only needs to hope that none of the relevant lifters in +75 bombs out... Meanwhile, had a horrible session today in B group of -94 as one of their lifters bombed out... This could be the end of their hopes.
  13. That is some great news for then! (And also great news for all the nations that were looking for Tripartite quota as STP was the favorite for that).
  14. That's a bit strange. All that qualification systems says regarding that is,,, Doesn't really say that NOC has to compete in the same event.
  15. It's interesting that things would be much more straightforward for Turkmenistan if their final lifter competed in +75 instead of -75. They would just have to finish ahead of UAE there, what wouldn't be any kind of a problem according to the entry weights. Meanwhile, in current scenario they need her to finish 5th (or better) and hope that none of the lifters in +75 bombs out. That is also likely but not as assuring.
  16. I just remembered this video reportage about their qualification in 2012... My favorite line is "In the UAE it's a girls' sport as the girls qualified, not the boys. Girls are smarter than boys. Weightlifting has nothing to do with strength..."

  18. Australia has made an early selection in show jumping as the first two members of the team were announced... Edwina Tops Alexander (Caretina de Joter) Scott Keach (Fedor) Both of them have an Olympic experience. Edwina was a part of the team in both 2008 and 2012. Scott will go to his second Olympics, but his first Olympics were in 1988 (!!). Happy for him. http://www.worldofshowjumping.com/en/News/Edwina-Tops-Alexander-and-Scott-Keach-ready-for-Rio.html
  19. They already did that in 2012. On the other hand, Turkmenistan is still an unqualified nation and this could be a historic first female quota in weightlifting for them.
  20. Looks like Turkmenistan can take the last quota from UAE, if everything goes in the way of entry weights in women's -75 and +75. Turkmenistan would end up on 82, UAE on 81. I really hope Turkmenistan takes it... Current situation TKM 80 (22+20+19+19) UAE 68 (22+16+15+15) If everything goes like entry weights, TKM would get 21 in -75, UAE would get 22+21 in +75.
