  1. And let me guess, it will go to Mr. Nedžad Fazlija, just like the last 5 Olympics?
  2. Not necessarily the true. Back in 2012, a guy from Yemen received a wild card in taekwondo and he eliminated silver medalist from Beijing in the first round. And it's not like he was some good and known athlete who just missed a qualification, similar to the athletes that got wild cards this time. Plus, like intoronto said, taekwondo is very popular in a lot of small nations. From my experience of watching, it's more common and easier for weaker athletes to get a RSC in boxing or FALL in wrestling rather than RSC in taekwondo.
  3. The last time hosts didn't win anything in athletics was in 1988, so it's not unheard of, at least.
  4. Guinea might have a chance in -66kg judo category. I think continental quota will go to them if South Africa refuses it.
  5. Dominican Republic is officially the king of newcomers. Archery becomes the 4th debuting sport for them. Plus, I think the list could use an update.
  6. What a disaster for Cuba. Though I guess they will have a chance at the World qualifier?
  7. Wow, Dominican girl was even behind "Grandma Luge" (Anne Abernathy) in ranking round!! What a great elimination part she had.
  8. Mexico and El Salvador (!) qualified in men's. Well done
  9. Here's something about tripartite quotas. https://worldarchery.org/news/139633/malawis-areneo-david-pursuing-rio-2016-olympic-dream Apparently, Malawi and Liechtenstein might get it. The question is: Do they REALLY need make that MQS? Back in 2012 we had the same MQS standards and yet Iraqi girl received a wild card despite being a long, long way from MQS... Probably San Marino didn't have MQS too.
  10. Already on day 2 we have a "situation". Libya didn't compete today even though they had 2 lifters in -62 on entry list! This might open the door for Ghana. Also a lifter from Congo didn't show up. Madagascar is leading the team rankings on day 1 after winning gold and silver. But according to the entry list that's their complete team.
  11. Yes, it looks very unlikely that will lose it in the last week. is completely safe
  12. Rio qualification simulation is available here (situation with one week to go) http://www.triathlon.org/rankings Jordan is currently the only tripartite nation which has an eligible triathlete, hopefully they'll get it. Both tripartite quotas in women's event and at least one tripartite quota in men's event will surely get reallocated back to rankings.
  13. But Toth still has much faster PB than that.
  14. He probably did. According to Wikipedia he was born and spent his all life in Slovenia (Ljubljana). And since whole Slovenia was part of the Austria-Hungary Empire until 1918 (just like Croatia for example). therefore, he lived in Austria-Hungary Empire.
  15. Looks like Tunisia already qualified. North Africa is now dominating everyone else even in this sport.
  16. Wow, Sierra Leone! I think it's a real pitty that we don't have tripartite places in beach volleyball (1 in each gender). There are a lot of small countries competing and the current qualification really doesn't allow small countries that have only 1 good team to qualify (like Vanuatu).
  17. Probably only judo (in addition to athletics and swimming).
  18. Tunisia also had a 14 year-old girl competing in -48kg.
  19. Oh yes, I think late night/early morning will be popular period for European users to update the results.
  20. I think you're right. Looking back at 2012 qualification, it looks like Samoa received a reallocation in men's weightlifting despite already having a woman. From what I understood, IWF will take one quota away from Romania in both men's and women's events (what in reality means 2 quotas).
  21. Mia Radotić fell today in the sprint for the first place of the last stage.... She dropped to 13th in general standings, what gives her only 16 points what isn't nearly enough to become a serious contender for Rio. She would have got 35 points had she stayed in 8th place... Talk about wasting your chances.
  22. I think and are pretty safe. Anyway, if their wrestlers at European qualifications had that "false Meldonium alarm" then it will be the bronze medalists from here that qualify. If it was not than we have a circus.
  23. So was Alex Schwarzer. And we don't mean poor Krupnyakov, but poor , there's a difference (they had 3 wrestlers).
  24. 3 semifinals... And 0 quotas for It's actually really stupid that UWW allowed countries who had dopers qualified to enter again! More honest federations than UWW wouldn't allow that!
