  1. For me Joshua lands 7 or 8 scoring punches in the first 90 seconds of round 3 that wins it for him. Of course that would mean nothing under the new scoring method. And I can think of some very bad decisions that went against Italians before that. Mussone and Damiani in 1984 for example
  2. I agree with the comments on Conlon but not quite on Joshua's final. Under the current scoring he would definitely have lost 29-28 to the Italian but on 2012 scoring I think he did enough in round 3 to make up the deficit on the 1st two rounds. Although he definitely lost to the Cuban in his first bout in 2012
  3. I'm Welsh and was not happy that our federation were supporters of the corrupt AIBA *******
  4. Britain has put a lot of time, effort and money into amateur boxing this century. Also remember that England, Scotland and Wales have separate membership of AIBA and England and Scotland were enemies of the former AIBA administration.
  5. Alex Yee wins the men's race Maya Kingma wins the women's race. I think this is significant because Yee will probably win the last place on the GBR team ahead of double gold medalist Alastair Brownlee
  6. Genuinely a very close fight. I think Clark won because he finished the last minute of the final round strongly
  7. Strange decision to disqualify the Bulgarian so quickly
  8. I think that means that, if Brennan wins, there'll be more Irish boxers than Americans for the first time ever?
  9. I thought Brennan would be the sixth?
  10. FINA is making a bad habit of messing up the qualifying rules. I fear this and the diving situation is heading for the courts

  20. I slightly disagree about Dubois. I think she may be the best female boxer in the world by the Paris Olympics. But I also think Testa is a very, very good fighter and could win gold in Tokyo
  21. I can't claim credit for finding this. It was sent to me by the American based Brazilian swimming coach Alex Pusseildi
  22. No - I can't agree with that! Potkonen tried every dirty trick in the book. She was lucky not to deducted multiple points.

  24. Really, I never thought we had much influence within the sport. And, to be honest, all I saw today was that the women were much, much better than their opponents. The two men had very close fights that they might have won or might have lost
  25. I admit to be biased - but I'm shocked to see how good the performances of the British women have been so far
