  1. Not really since they are all 400m runners who have turned to 400m hurdles. Fairly rapid improvements are not unexpected in such circumstances.
  2. Oordegen, Belgium Women's 400m hurdles Jessica Turner 54.77
  3. Doha Men's 800m Daniel Rowden 1:44.60
  4. Or perhaps the question of whether or not the Games should go ahead in her home country?
  5. 27 out of the 40 squad members won medals with 24 of them picking up at least one gold. The power of relays!
  6. Yes I did, which is why I was trying to point out that your question was irrelevant given that it was based on false information.
  7. It was Burgin not Hodgkinson who set the EJR. Hodgkinson's effort was a NR.
  8. Women's 400 Hurdles Jessie Knight 54.74 18 year old Max Burgin already had a qualifying mark but has now run a European U20 record of 1:44.14 for the 800m which is a WL.
  9. So for Ireland it's about finishing ahead of Belgium or Spain and ideally both this evening?
  10. Switzerland have already qualified via the WC.
  11. But typical of why Australia always has such an inflated Olympic team in relation to other countries. ?
  12. If you are proposing to do this at the Olympics which events would you cut to accommodate the additional athletes that your suggestions would entail?
  13. In fairness they are really rattling through the programme though. They have barely finished one heat before the next is starting. I don't ever remember a meet being run at this speed before.
  14. Thanks. In which case the answer to Dragon's question is likely to be one.
  15. Eric Lamaze has withdrawn from consideration for the Olympics. https://www.newsoptimist.ca/canadian-show-jumper-eric-lamaze-withdraws-from-tokyo-short-list-1.24319898
  16. I'm also unclear on this. They picked up one quota through their performance in the U-23s at the WC. They also appeared to be in line for two quotas through the rankings, although the updated rankings suggest that it will now be one. I also don't understand if quotas picked up in the rankings have any impact on the quota gained at the WC. The recent events surrounding the Romanian rider in the men's event have left me confused about this. My best guess is that Richards, Short and Last will be fighting for two spots between them.
  17. Aimee Willmott won a silver medal rather than a bronze.
  18. The women's gold was the first in this event since 1927 and the men's silver only the second in the event following the 1962 medal to which you referred.
  19. The commentary isn't too reliable so I'm using their tracker as well.
  20. W1x : M1x : M2x : W2x : M2- : W2- : W4- : M4- : LM2x : LW2x : M4x : W4x : W8+ : M8+ :
  21. Yes, he and his coach relocated to Dublin to train after he had competed for England in the 2014 Commonwealth Games. One of his grandparents is Irish so he probably has some relatives in the country.
  22. Both the Jamaican and Irish divers are from Yorkshire. Yona Knight has Jamaican and Barbadian parentage so could have competed for any of three countries. He used to train alongside many of the top British divers in his home city of Leeds. I don't know whether he still does so.
  23. I think a reasonable rule of thumb is that where a country qualifies a synchronised team one of the pair is also likely to be competing in the individual events. GB has secured the maximum number of quotas available and although they brought 15 divers to this event to cover the 16 places I expect that they will likely select a team of 12/13 divers with some competing in both the individual and synchronised events.
  24. Goodbye to basketball and table tennis as well where we know the US and China are going to be gifted the gold medals. ?
  25. So China winning gold in diving is going to come as a bit of a shock to you then. ?
