Qualification Tracker

Test

Everything posted by Nickyc707

  1. That's been coming for a little while. Just need Chris Bennett to add a metre to his PB and they'll be taking three male hammer throwers to the Games for the first time in living memory.
  2. Glasgow Women's 200m butterfly Laura Stephens 2:08.15
  3. Bureaucratic oversight in failing to put any hurdles on the track, perhaps.
  4. Yes, although she has the luxury of two chances now. Mind you this tournament isn't just about qualification but seedlings in Tokyo so winning at the first attempt is definitely the better option.
  5. Qualification as one of the 53 quotas from the BTF rankings, perhaps?
  6. Don't like our weather? ?
  7. Potkonen through the BTF rankings presumably given her record?
  8. 7th fastest ever by a Brit. The only one's who have run faster are Farah, Coe, Cram, Ovett and from the current generation Jake Wightman and Charlie Grice who he will face at the Olympic trials. The strength of British middle distance running is amazing at the moment and the 800 and 1500m trials in both the men's and women's events are going to be blockbusters. There are going to be some very disappointed athletes who won't be going to Tokyo.
  9. Portland, Oregon Men's 1500m Josh Kerr 3:31.55 Improves his PB by more than four seconds.
  10. Yep, I was looking at the qualification score (145-144), but really the main point was they won.
  11. Rossi and Grazini won the gold by a single point.
  12. It's possible it's a English, Scottish or Welsh NR, but as far as I'm aware both Parker and Pratt are English so I don't think it can be.
  13. Pratt's run is not a NR. Barbara Parker holds the record with a run of 9:24.24 in 2012.
  14. The problem may not be as great as it seems once NOCs start selecting their teams. As we've seen today GB have only used 12 of their 16 quotas and it appears that China will likely only use 10 or 11 of their 16. Most other countries with synchronised quotas will also have divers doubling up so this should help FINA significantly.
  15. Germany's population is a third bigger than France, GB and Italy which helps but overall I think they have underperformed as a country since reunification which is why I'm not expecting them to have a significant advantage. Not sure about Canada but they obviously have an easier qualification route in most sports than the Europeans. We'll know soon enough anyway with the qualification process finally coming to a close in little more than a month.
  16. I thought we might exceed 400 but falling at the final hurdle in team sports like women's basketball and softball didn't help. Plus we haven't won as many quotas in sports like shooting and table tennis as I'd hoped. Our biggest teams at Games on foreign soil were in Seoul (382) and Barcelona (389) so it will likely be close. I would think GB, France, Germany and Italy will all have similar sized teams.
  17. I think GB is likely to have a team of approximately 380*. It's very unusual for any team to use all 16 quotas in diving because the best divers often double up. Like China, GB has won the maximum number of quotas in diving at the last four games but they've never selected the 16 divers to which they were entitled. I predicted that GB would only pick 12/13 divers after the Tokyo qualifiers even though they used 15 divers there. * I'm a bit uncertain about the numbers mainly because they have qualified for all twelve athletics and swimming relays and I really don't know how many extra athletes they'll take to cover eventualities in those events.
  18. GB have named their diving team of twelve with four divers doubling up in individual and synchronised events. I don't know whether this releases any more places for athletes who haven't yet qualified. https://www.teamgb.com/article/daley-and-laugher-lead-tokyo-diving-hopes-for-team-gb/69pW6bb2sCHwtAI6OfjF7q
  19. Thanks. You're probably right although at least one country has two in the top 60 without a qualification time.
  20. Thanks for that. So just to clarify you could enter three athletes through the rankings even if none of them have the qualification time.
  21. If a country has more than one athlete meeting the ranking requirement but they do not have the qualification time can both/all three be selected by the respective NOC if they so wish or are they limited to one?
  22. This may be of use. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_European_Boxing_Olympic_Qualification_Tournament Countries may have substituted some boxers where permissible as has been mentioned.
  23. What if you don't think any of them will occur?
  24. Boston, USA Women's 5000m Amy-Eloise Markovc 15:05.96
