  1. I have been looking when I've had the opportunity but as you know all to well a lot of NOCs aren't too good at the media side of things. I'll keep on trying when I have the opportunity and will let you have any information I find.
  2. Okay, finally sorted out the discrepancy. The SA NOC have listed track & field athlete Shaun Maswangawyi TWICE in their list. So you need to reduce the Athletics total from 35 to 34 and the total from 181 to 180. This will then tally with the newspaper report of 180 (185 - 5 reserves).
  3. Those figures look good to me Benolympique. I've found a newspaper report from the day the full team was announced. https://www.news24.com/sport/othersport/olympics2020/tokyo-olympics-full-squad-team-sa-brings-largest-ever-contingent-to-japan-20210706 The only problem is they say the team is 185 strong but they have included the reserves. However, there appear to be 5 reserves - football 2, rugby 7s 1, water polo 2 - so there is a slight discrepancy, i.e. 181 v 180 after deducting the reserves but that may simply be a mathematical error on the part of the journalist. It would have helped if the SA NOC had given numbers themselves instead of leaving it for others to work out. Bottom line is I think 181 is correct but if anyone wants to analyse the team list they are welcome to do so.
  4. Benolympique hold fire on this. I realise I've miscounted the number of artistic swimmers by 7 reducing the total to 181. The numbers you have add up to 183 but the number of swimmers on the team appears to be 15 not 17 excluding the two marathon swimmers which you have recorded separately.
  5. The information is on the NOC website and describes it as the final team. It doesn't quote any numbers, just the names of the athletes. The total I've given is a result of my addition and should be checked by someone else to make sure I've got it right.
  6. I make this 188 + 5 reserves in football, rugby 7s and water polo, but perhaps someone else can check it. https://www.teamsa.co.za/team-sa-the-full-list-for-the-tokyo-olympics/
  7. Badminton 7 not 8 Canoeing 8 not 7
  8. Athletics 76 (+4) Weightlifting 4 (+1) They have also gained an additional quota in table tennis. https://www.ittf.com/2021/07/06/vladimir-samsonov-withdraws-participation-tokyo-2020/ Table tennis 3 (+1) Total 374(+1)
  9. Is there a single lie that you will not tell? "This is clearly aimed at an unsportsmanlike thwarting of sports they do badly at ( and India does wellat ) ........." 2002 British shooters won 24 medals Indian shooters won 24 medals 2006 British 26 Indian 27 2010 British 30 Indian 30 2014 British 20 Indian 17 2018 British 22 Indian 16 Total British 122 Indian 114 The numbers demonstrate categorically that the absence of shooting does not benefit the British teams at the expense of India. If anything it is the other way around as India's performance has declined.
  10. Except of course there aren't more medals for lawn bowls than shooting and the CWG isn't intended to be a replica of the OG which is why it includes non-Olympic sports just as the Asian Games does.
  11. Then I suggest that those countries that want it to be a core sport work to achieve that. There's nothing to stop them from doing that. The point is that the decision was solely the organisers as agreed by the CWG federations. India has engaged in bully boy tactics which it would never gave accepted had the boot been on the other foot.
  12. So basically you can't answer. India behaves in a way that it wouldn't accept from any other country. Pathetic.
  13. I'm from England but don't really follow football. If England beat Ukraine I certainly wouldn't discount Denmark. They'll be underdogs but they have nothing to lose and all the hype and pressure will be on England. Plus Denmark have Kasper Schmichael who plays for my hometown club, Leicester City.
  14. Effectively the travelling reserves in these sports are now part of the playing squads for the Games. Should we consider amending the numbers accordingly?
  15. Shooting is not a core sport of the CWG and never has been. It's an optional sport and therefore was not removed from the programme. Nor is it a "major" Olympic sport. It doesn't attract large numbers of spectators and it is difficult to follow either on television or in person. In case you haven't noticed the programme includes both hockey and cricket which are sports which I suspect have considerably more following among most Indians than shooting. Like shooting, cricket is optional but has been included which hardly suggests this is some conspiracy against India. I ask you again how would India have responded if one of the other Commonwealth countries had tried to dictate what sports to include in the programme for Delhi?
  16. Really, then how do you explain the participation of all the other countries? Why is the number of Commonwealth countries continuing to grow? The CWG has proven a great arena for athletes to experience a large multi-sport event and to learn how to cope with living and performing in the village environment. It has certainly been a great stepping stone to the OG for sportsmen from many countries. Perhaps if Italian sport had something similar it might appreciate the value of the Games both intrinsically and as a nursery for the greatest stage of all.
  17. Tell me. How would India have responded if one of the other Commonwealth countries had tried to dictate to them which sports to include in the programme for Delhi? I understand India's disappointment at the exclusion of shooting from the programme in Birmingham but it was purely logistical and any other claim amounts to nothing more than paranoia. India doesn't need to be cut down to size. It is a great country but it's behaviour in this matter has not reflected well on it.
  18. And yet oddly it attracts large numbers of spectators and produces many athletes who go on to success at world and olympic level.
  19. This is becoming embarrassing for you. You said you were the best. Then you denied it despite the evidence to the contrary. You've dug yourself into a hole and I strongly advise you to stop digging.
  20. "And our shooters and archers are already the best in the world so they didn't really need to prove themselves by winning gold in tournaments where we don't even have enough competition." If you are going to engage in blatant lies it's best not to do it on a thread where those lies can be exposed!
  21. India perform so badly I'm not surprised. You claim that India is the best in the world at shooting and archery and face no competition at the CWG. This is patently false as the last time the games were held in 2018 India only managed to win seven of the 19 gold medals in shooting. The feeble opposition picked up 12 between them. As for archery the last time it was held at the CWG India trailed behind England even on their home soil in Delhi. Be honest with yourself. India stamped its feet up and down to get this event and threatened to take their ball home if they didn't. Now they face the humiliation of having had to cancel it no matter how good the reason.
  22. Talk about rewriting history. You were the only ones who wanted it and you threw your teddy bear out of the pram in order to get it.
  23. Slight error. There are two medal events in hockey and football.
  24. Weightlifting for one. You can only compete in a maximum of 8/14.
  25. Jumping team named today Scott Brash (Hello Jefferson) Ben Maher (Explosion W) Holly Smith (Denver) Reserve: Harry Charles (Romeo 88)
