  1. Yesterday Gracenote said they thought the odds were 60-40 in favour of China based on what's left.
  2. He had a habit of predicting disaster before events had even been completed and has been wrong on pretty much every forecast he has made. It's unlikely but with 60 medals so far including two boxing finalists there is still just a route to beating 2016 which would make his head explode.
  3. San Marino's success rubbing off on Italy?
  4. Yep, he was born in Prague and has been head coach since 1998.
  5. Up against the US so it will be pretty tough. GB still have a number of opportunities and only have to match their number of golds so should overtake them.
  6. How many more gold medal opportunities does Oz have do you think?
  7. How many teams does San Marino have out of interest. How many pitches for that matter?
  8. I think the main argument was that there were four sprint events for each gender and only two endurance events with no points or scratch race. The new style omnium creates a 3-3 split.
  9. Great final effort by Stewart who was a late substitute for the Kiwis.
  10. Another case of no one in the peleton being willing to take up the chase.
  11. You have a tendency to equate your views with those of the wider public. Your prophet of doom predictions haven't stood up to much scrutiny so far but we'll see.
  12. Even Kenny isn't expecting to win and has said his teammate has a better chance than he does.
  13. So Oceania would consist of Australasia and the Pacific Islands. No need to bother with continental qualification any more you could just insist on quotas for every event. By the way I like the way the Aussies have incorporated New Zealand into the team's name.
  14. Too young to know any better? ?
  15. Fifty years between the oldest and youngest medal winners in Tokyo.
  16. That was in part due to the removal of the two man Star class which was where Finn Class sailors used to move onto. Instead the best sailors were forced to stay in the Finn class.
  17. Top 5 is good enough for Scott as Berecz has to finish five places ahead of him. In your scenario if Berecz won the race he would have 37+2=39 pts and if Scott were 5th he would have 28+10=38 pts.
  18. Mixed medley modern pentathlon? ?
  19. Sailing latest. Men's Finn 1st after 10/10 " 470 4th after 8/10 " 49er 2nd after 12/12 Women's 470 1st after 8/10 " 49erFX 5th after 12/12 Mixed Nacra 2nd after 12/12 Following Emma Wilson's windsurfing bronze GB were guaranteed two further medals in the Finn and Nacra classes today. Giles Scott needs a top five finish in the ten boat medal race to guarantee gold. Wherever he finishes he'll get at least a bronze. In the Nacra catamaran the GB pair trail the leaders by 12 pts and lead the third placed boat by the same number of points. Likeliest outcomes a gold and a silver. We go into the medal races for the 49er and 49erFX in 2nd and 5th respectively and both or neither could medal. Lots of boats still in with a chance and it's too close to call. The men's and women's 470 classes still have two races to go before the medal race. In the women's, Mills and McIntyre lie first and on current form I think they will likely go into the medal race with a top three spot guaranteed. They are in a really close race with the Poles but either gold or silver seems a good prospect. The men's boat are tied on pts with the third placed team and just a handful of pts behind the second. Difficult to predict what may happen here. We now have three medals guaranteed. At least one more seems very likely and up to seven are a real possibility. Like the boxing squad we maybe on course for a record breaking performance from our sailors.
  20. And yet so far GB has qualified more athletes for track & field finals in events that have completed qualification than they did in 2016. And DNA isn't out of form she has issues with her hamstring. You're very good at making claims of disaster before events actually take place.
  21. Vincent is actually one of the best runners in men's triathlon but he's not fully fit after injury problems this year.
  22. Following Emma Wilson's windsurfing bronze GB is well in contention in six other classes after today's racing. Men's Finn 1st after 8/10 races " 470 2nd after 6/10 " 49er 2nd after 12/12 Women's 470 2nd after 6/10 " 49erFX 5th after 12/12 Mixed Nacra 2nd after 9/12 Although only 5th going into the women's 49erFX class medal race they can still potentially win any of the medals it is so close.
  23. The prophet of doom and gloom wouldn't be happy if he or she couldn't find something negative to say. The swimming squad is setting all sorts of records in Tokyo but instead he/she chooses to highlight a potentially negative one.
