  1. Did not realise this, have just watched it - Leman won the last race of his life on home snow! The jury gave him a yellow card! He’ll know not to do that again.
  2. There are two, at least, Craigleiths in the World, one in Canada & the other right here in Edinburgh (formerly a quarry, now a retail park). Guess which one Discovery Plus described as the host of today’s Ski Cross race….
  3. Modern athletics began, partly, with these kind of eccentric British hare & hounds races in 19th Century, (combined with much drinking & betting) so I don’t disrespect them. Wouldn’t be queuing up to watch the live stream though.
  4. Hey, ES Commentator Mike Dixon waxed his own skis. So don’t come crying…
  5. Simple enough to do: define the race piste & say that only athletes entered in the race can ski on that piste in the days preceding the event. If biathletes (or their coaches) are expected to be weather forecasters, then they should be able to choose their own skis.
  6. Run it as a double header, like baseball.
  7. Also: it should be up to the athletes to test & choose their own skis. No more having squads of roadies doing it for you.
  8. They are also big on snooker for some reason.
  9. Here's your TV schedule. As usual, Japanese TV are paying the bills so we'll be seeing a lot of them! Eurosport negotiations lagging as per normal. Otherwise all of everything is on the Curling Channel PPV - but their prices are more realistic that most other PPV sites and you only pay for single games. Broadcast schedule for the LGT World Women’s Curling Championship 2023 - World Curling Federation
  10. Yeah, you're right, just corrected my post. Obviously the 18 months instead of the standard 24 is to allow just that.
  11. No, she would not be able to qualify from the US Nationals. Ooops it's only 18 months backdated, so she returns just in time for the US outdoor season 2023.
  12. Just a reminder that the international left is determined to destroy women’s sports unless the Governing Bodies take decisive action, like World Aquatics have done. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11864437/Transgender-girl-helped-high-schools-track-field-team-secure-state-victory.html
  13. It’s all streaming on YT. https://youtube.com/@ucichannel
  14. Because no-one wants a pan-Slavic games, not even .
  15. No, LJ & TJ pits were always sand - otherwise the judges could not measure the mark. The track itself was cinders or woodchips. Sprinters took a trowel out with them to dig their blocks in! Mexico 68 was the first major games with a plastic track.
  16. Like I said, if the school did not have foam rubber landing mats, he was right, it was too dangerous for school. At my school in the 70s we were still jumping into the long jump pit. Just remembered: the straddle, that was the other one. Lead leg over first, then the rest of the body.
  17. BBC obit. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/64945985 in the early days of high jump & even Pole Vault you jumped into the long jump pit, so if didn’t want to injure yourself, you landed on your feet. When foam mattresses came along in the mid 60s, Fosbury realised that there was room for a new technique. I saw the HJ at the Commonwealth Games in 1970 & even then lots of people were using the old technique. But by Munich 1972, everyone was using Fosbury’s jump. Although you still see people doing the old methods in practice & warm-up. I remember there were the scissors - jumping legs first upright - and the western roll - diving head first stomach down over the bar.
  18. No such dramas in Team who were randomly assigned to each other by the coach.
  19. Wow, everyone except Christiansen miss on Shoot 4!
  20. Sandra Naeslund injured in training: hoping to return before the end of the season.
  21. We got a ski race! Wierer crushes it!
  22. British people moving to Poland. It is all fun & games until you have to learn verbs of motion. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/article-11845307/The-Brits-left-home-Good-Life-Poland.html
  23. https://youtu.be/pE1NeIRuR4g
  24. Yeah, she is getting back to five years ago when she used to win slalom by 1.5 secs.
  25. Certainly popular with the local fans!
