  1. Women's pool A is really exciting.
  2. The Netherlands still in the running for 2nd place in pool B, which is the pool with USA, China, Serbia and Italy.
  3. In London, Rick van der Ven finished in 4th place as well. Congrats to the medal winners and to in particular. Winning all events in archery
  4. Van Rijsselberghe almost 100% sure of gold, unless the jury makes another decision later tonight as they have done earlier. His lead in the RS:X category is big enough that the medal race is irrelevant when it comes to the Olympic title. Dorian would be the first sailer in his category ever to successfully defend an Olympic title. Dorian van Rijsselberghe was our flag bearer in London.
  5. Sjef van den Berg beats Lee by winning 30-29 in the final set
  6. What an important point against . If loses to tonight, the Netherlands are through to the next round. But for some reason, always makes the semis, so they will probably win anyways. If wins against , then has to beat which simply won't happen.
  7. Eythora Thorsdottir the first Dutch woman ever to finish top 10 in an Olympic AA final
  8. Simple win by the Dutch women over the Italian team. Now it's almost sure that have qualified for the quarter finals.
  9. Not a lot of updates in this thread so far. So far I'd say and are doing well compared to what I personally expected from them before the Games started. On the other hand, I expected more from and . There are still a lot of events that have to finish or haven't started yet, but so far I'd say is the biggest favorite to finish 3rd in the medal table behind and .
  10. Congrats to the USA, Russia and China. I'm proud of the Dutch girls. Finishing in 7th place is incredible.
  11. Annika!
  12. Dutch women lost 3-2 against team USA, but winning these two sets will put extra pressure on Italy. The Netherlands now have 3 points, where 0 points were expected, so all in all a good start for the Dutch team.
  13. Annemiek is okay according to the Dutch team. She is conscious and is able to talk to the ambulance personnel.
  14. Niewiadoma's time will come. She's a great talent.
  15. Heartbeat in my throat. This is amazing!
  16. Great win against China! The Dutch somehow managed to turn another 1-2 around, just like they did during the WGP.
  17. The two Dutch women did not meet the criteria of the Dutch NOC and will therefore not be present in Rio.
  18. Amazing bronze medal for the Dutch women after beating China and Russia, both in five sets. Russia even had 4 match points in the third set. The Dutch girls have made incredible progress in the past two years. I'm curious to see what they can do in Rio.
  19. Reinder Nummerdor (and Christiaan Varenhorst won the Moscow Grand Slam earlier today, taking revenge for their lost World Championships final last year by beating the reigning world champions Alison Cerutti and Bruno Oscar Schmidt in three sets.
  20. I wouldn't have been surprised if the Dutch NOC decided to send no female tennis players to Rio. In 2012, Miranda Boonstra ran the Rotterdam marathon in 2:27.32 under terrible conditions, which was 8 seconds above the limit of the Dutch NOC. They decided not to send her to London. The Dutch NOC is quite strict with their additional criteria. Now, Kiki might also play mixed doubles with Jean-Julien Rojer.
  21. Bertens in 4th round of singles and QF in doubles after beating Williams x2!
  22. Bertens just defeated Kasatkina (10-8 in the third set), which means she meets the Dutch NOC requirements of making the 4th round at a slam and being ranked in the top 56. We have a female singles player at the Olympics. Can't believe this. Just a few months ago she was ranked 101. No way I thought she was going to make the 4th round at a slam and be in the top 56 before the end of the qualifying period.
  23. Schippers running 22.02 in front of her home crowd.
