In that aspect you’re right, traditionally Latin American societies, most of which have a Catholic tradition, observe those festivities, which include some sort of visit to the resting place of deceased family members. However, “Dia de los Muertos” is a tradition that dates to prehispanic times, and that is mostly restricted to the Mesoamerican region, which covers central and southern Mexico, plus the northern parts of Central America. As @LDOG stated, the modern celebration combines indigenous and Catholic elements, including building an “altar” in which people put offerings, mostly those things the deceased one liked to eat. Recently, the whole thing celebration has a lot of its original meaning, due to mistepresentation, cultural appropiation and excessive marketing. On another note, Halloween was very popular in North and Western Mexico when I was a kid, but now it has cede its pkace to Dia de los Muertos, mostly for a national pride reason.

Yes, according to Tokyo 2020 qualification document if a continent doesn't have a team among top 24 at this World Championships edition, then the 1st place at next year's Continental Championships shall take 24th, 23rd or even 22nd position, as long as the continental championships are held before 2019 Worlds. If not then the best team of that continent at this year's world championships will represent said continent at 2019 World Championships.

Entry list So just one week before this event is due to start. Not only Olympic qualification, but also the last spots for next year's Pan American Games (another Tokyo qualification event) should be distributed. For this later event, and after a brief scan, every participating athlete (up to the limit by NOC) should secure a place in women's trap, and skeet in both genders. I will try to attend the air events next weekend.
