  1. Canada defeated Japan 6-5 in Okinawa in the first warm-up match towards the Premier 12... they scored all of their runs early (2nd inning) and then, despite a few silly defensive mistakes, they were able to survive the Japanese rally... highlights full game replay

  8. Roskilde Station - Photo: Slaunger - Wiki We can now welcome @Werloc, @justony and @Belle to what many calls the capitol of Danish Music, Roskilde. This is also the city where Communions can be said to have had their breakthrough. Roskilde dates to about 1000 AD and became the Christian center of Denmark only some 20 years later. The city grew rapidly due to the important role of the church where Roskilde was the preferred city to whoever wanted to stay close to the important people of the Danish church. Slowly the city declined as Copenhagen grew and with the Reformation the city lost it’s position as religious center. With the introduction of the Railway the city became a major city again becoming a bit of a satellite city. Nowadays Roskilde is the 10th largest city in Denmark, but for one week every year it’s unofficially the 4th largest as 130.000 guests from all around the world visit for the Roskilde Festival, one of the most popular music festivals in Europe. Roskilde Cathedral - Photo: Jens Cederskjold - Wiki In sports, FC Roskilde plays in the Danish 1st division in football. Roskilde will also host the start of the 2nd Stage of the 2021 Tour de France. Several major sports stars are however from Roskilde, among who Thomas Ebert from the legendary Danish lightweight coxless four winning Olympic gold in both 2004 and 2008, men’s doubles silver medalist in badminton, Carsten Mogensen and F1-driver Kevin Magnussen are among the more well-known. Roskilde Festival - Orange Stage - Photo: Bill Ebbesen - Wiki We will make sure that you will be able to spend your time here. Roskilde Cathedral with the tombs of most Danish kings and queens and the Viking Ship museum are both very interesting historical sights, while the former Roskilde Royal Mansion has a lovely museum of contemporary art. And of course, as you’re here for a music contest, we would very much advice you to visit Ragnarock, museum of rock, pop and youth culture.

  11. I was bored, here is what the top 10 would look like if we only used the top 4 players from each nation (I only looked at the top 1000 players). Men 1. Serbia - 6,234,720 2. Latvia - 6,036,160 3. United States - 4,971,879 4. Slovenia - 4,555,680 5. Lithuania - 4,475,760 6. Canada - 4,006,120 7. Netherlands - 3,964,080 8. Russia - 3,162,320 9. Mongolia - 2,714,920 10. Switzerland - 2,519,560 Women 1. France - 2,176,360 2. Canada - 1,549,480 3. Russia - 1,438,010 4. Italy - 1,393,680 5. China - 1,389,720 6. Spain - 1,361,900 7. Netherlands - 1,264,200 8. Poland - 1,150,100 9. Japan - 1,121,503 10. United States - 1,012,950 Both genders only have one team (Serbia and Russia) which overlaps with the current ranking list. Additionally, the host quota would go to the women. For those curious, in the men's ranking China is ranked 12th while Japan is ranked 14th and in the women's rankings Romania is 13th while Mongolia is 17th. I'm surprised how well Canada is doing, though I knew they were trying to send a quality team. Hopefully they will compete in the qualification tournament, though it will be hard to defeat the European teams.

  16. Wow, congratulations to the Washington Nationals! What a great post-season story, after almost losing in the wildcard games, and tonight's game 7 before getting big hits to put them ahead in all of the deciding games. Also great to see guys like Max Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg, Anthony Rendon and especially Ryan Zimmerman (first ever draft pick of the Nationals) finally getting World Series Rings.

  18. (until) Seoul 1988: the good old 5 judges, scoring bouts "like the pros"...the worst Olympic Boxing scandal ever... London 2012...the devilish scoring machines...the second worst Olympic Boxing scandal ever... Rio 2016...the latest scoring system (3 judges, scoring the bout on a 10-pt scale, like the pros)...just another oscenity... you can change the scoring system as many times as you want, but this is not the problem of boxing (and especially Olympic Boxing)... the real problem are the men in charge, who are always at least biased, when often not truly corrupted... until there is a single man coming from the old establishment, there's no way we're going to have a clean boxing tournament at the Olympics...

  19. Rødovre Station - Photo: Secondarywaltz - Wiki We’re back in the greater Copenhagen area, where we can welcome @Vektor, @Cobi, @Bohemia and @Benolympique to Rødovre. It was at the local high school that the band Sods played their very first concert back in 1977 in 1981 the band changed name to Sort Sol and later participated in the 2017 TISC Open. Just like many other towns in the greater Copenhagen area, Rødovre was a small farming village before Copenhagen started growing. During the war against Sweden in 1660 the church of the village was destroyed and the villagers ordered to go to another church nearby. In the end of the 1800s, new fortifications around Copenhagen was built including ramparts in the west, cutting small parts of the town from the rest. Rødovre remained a mainly rural town until about 1930, where it became more of a modern suburb. As a such it started growing rapidly and even had the first indoor mall in Denmark. Vestvolden - Photo: Ole Andersen - Flickr It is hard to mention Rødovre and sports without mentioning ice hockey.Rødovre has won the Danish championships 6 times and several of the Danish NHL stars including Jannik Hansen, Mikkel Bødker and Lars Eller had their domestic career here. Heerup Museum - Photo: Ramblersen - Wiki To spend some time here, we recommend the Heerup museum, walking along the old wester ramparts and visiting the cold war bunker, Ejbybunkeren just like a stroll around the Damhus Lake is lovely.
