I think the tennis venue is amazing!! It blends in nicely with the city, is quite simple. This is what venues should be like, and not over the top.

  7. With this I don't agree. While USA (mostly) and Canada doesn't send the best athletes in some sports, the competition still is interesting/enjoyable in many many events IMO. Also, we have Olympic tickets in many sports...

  9. You haven't watched artistic gymnastics, have you?. Even though the US sent the best girls (except for Simone Biles) and dominated the team competition, the event finals were unpredictable and the US was not even close to a full sweep like we all expected before the Games. The men's competition was extremely surprising, with US not earning any gold medals. Even Brazil lost the most expected medal this edition, gold on rings with Zanetti. I understand that the Pan Ams might not be very exciting for people from Europe and Asia, but it's not like I feel excited about the Asian Games either (China doesn't send their best athletes either and still they are unbeatable). I don't see any point in your criticism. If India competed at the Pan Ams, I could bet all my money they would be trailing off behind Argentina at this point, so why complain about the quality of the event?

  14. In the return to Argentina from vacations, our trip pass for Lima and there we found in our plane to the coach of the argentinian taekwondo team, Gabriel Taraburelli, he was very surprised to somebody outside his sports knows him, after a short conversation, he gifs me what you see in the photo of our NOC, i also see and talk with the 3 x 3 team of basketaball, one of them is from my city.

No, ball. She finished 9th in qualifications of ball (she made two horrible mistakes), so we were talking here that maybe Argentina would take out the other gymnast who qualified 8th to let her participate (since she clearly is much better). Thiago thought they would do it, I thought not due to "respect" for the other girl or something. I was right and I think it must be that our coaches see this competition as just experience for these girls.

  18. I know medicine is quite expensive in USA, ridiculous even, just like what you pay for fast food (that in comparison to other countries) Well to put in context. The minimum wage approved by Mexican Congress for this year is around $5.25 USD a day, and there are millions of workers earning just that. A sad reality, that is the origin/result of other problems in a sad misery circle

  19. Most of the events are now sold out or close to it in Lima. The venues are really nice, the competition is good, and Peru seems to be embracing the games. Dare I say these are a really excellent games and hopefully they finish with a bang with swimming/athletics. Considering where Lima was 2 years ago in preparations vs now, they have come full circle to put on a world class event.

  20. You're kidding right? How can you even compare Central American and Caribbean Games with this? Not in a million years... the only exceptions could be baseball and boxing. Other than that, no other sport has half the level.

  21. Yes, it can. First of all send every continental champion (so that part is over with) and then give all the other teams a worldwide OQT where the top-X qualifies.

  22. Maybe enjoy the Pan American Games for what they are? That doesn't mean I don't have a problem regarding schedule and broadcast, but this "USA and Canada doesn't care about the Pan Am Games" discussion is too overrated. That's their problem, but not one for the latin american nations - were the Games are widely popular (I mean, as far as multi-sport competitions go).

  23. Latin American sends, in most of the sports, the best they have......for a powerfull country like yours, is probably this games are a little boring.

  24. Okay. I'd probably have to say the South Asian Games in December will the most boring. All the results will be predictable there

  27. Cebollitas is an old argentinian tv series of a group of young teenagers who play football in an small club of neighborhood, they went seconds in a tournament and after that they have a song which says "Cebollitas subcampeon", in summary: you are talking about a "second place team/athletes" when you are talking about Cebollitas in Argentina. P.D: i must talk about Lords Cebollitas and no Cebollitas Lords

  28. Before the competition a lot of people said that Marcelo (the Brazilian volleyball coach in the Pan American games) should be the coach of team A. I think after he keeps this awful setter on the court the whole competition that is not going to happen.

  31. All in all the best possible Outcome from Germany's point of view, except Turkey losing to China, but a Turkey win was unlikely anyway. Will nonetheless be very hard to qualify. Congrats Serbia and probably Italy.

  33. And the US has 46. My point when replying to @Olympian1010 is that Canada is much closer to Colombia, Argentina and Brazil than the US. Not even close to US by a mile.

    Pan American Games 2019

Canada won more than double the gold in 2015 vs 2011. If the country cared, there would be no competition for second imo. Canada was top 10 in Rio in overall medals, won almost double Argentina/Colombia combined. I just wish the NF's here like swimming, cycling, rowing, canoeing etc. woudl actually take this competition seriously. Only way to do that is make all sports Olympic qualifiers. Looking at diving for ex. straight from worlds to this competition and Canada sent its A team, because of Olympic quotas on the line.

  39. Undoubtedly the most boring multi sport event of the year. Absolutely nothing to watch. The USA and Canada are sending 2nd or 3rd string teams still dominate, there is no nation close by to US. The smaller nations aren't able to do anything but it's expected. There is absolutely no interest to watch any country or athlete here. Overall it was the most boring multi sport event of the year. The North American and Caribbean Games (US and Canada in selected events) and The South American games should be separate.

  42. because that's the only slot given by the Brazilian TV (I remember a lot of the old World League games BRA vs ITA played at the same hour -when here it was broadcasted by the glory days of the good old Telemontecarlo)... later in the day, there's only place for football (soccer, I mean)...

  47. I wonder how Dominican players were feeling if they were watching this USA-Bulgaria match. from almost beating Brazil and securing the spot to watching USA almost losing to Bulgaria which could make the qualification VERY hard for them in NORCECA. Bulgarian players were having the match of their life they had their chances in 2nd set (they had 4-5 pts). 4th and also the 5th set. so far we had some 5-set matches in these qualifiers but all of them ended up in favor of the "favorite team" . still no surprise at all.
