  2. So for Round Three it looks like this Group G (19) Hungary (24) Lithuania (25) Japan (32) Spain Group H (20) Great Britain (23) Romania (26) China (30) Serbia Group J (21) Korea (22) Poland (27) Ukraine (28) Estonia

  3. It is still too early to make guesses, All will depend on the actual rosters, current form of the important players, eventual injuries etc... If the tournaments were played next weekend I would say in Group G. Should be the favorite on home ice, but must stay focused in its games against Lithuania and Japan, especially the one against may be a tricky one and I can see Japan doing the upset in this group. but at the start if I had to bet my money, I would be more willing to put one penny on the Magyars. Group H Everything will depend on roster, if at least half of their naturalized north-americans, Russians & co. will be still there, then there no competition for them. If China will play with mostly chinese-born roster then on home ice should pass the group quite easily. Group J Is the most open Group. vs can be a real do-or-die thriller and anyone´s game to win. S. Korea at home can be a threat, but PC 2018 hype is far gone and today´s roster is considerably inferior to both above mentioned neighboring countries.

  14. If you have thinking, that it's been a year without scandals in Bulgarian weightlifting, fear no more.. So, after a couple of attempts, including one stripped hosting 2 years ago, we are finally going to host the European Weightlifting Championships in February. It is of course included in the Olympic qualification calendar. All good so far. But on Friday, an adviser working for the Ministry of Sports was arrested for bribing the President of the weightlifting federation. He was asking for 30 k Euros from the President, so that the Ministry approves the funding of 600 k Euros for hosting the Euro Championships. This worker turned out to be the son of the National team coach. The next day, the coach himself - Ivan Ivanov, Olympic Champion 92, 4 times World Champion, was also arrested in suspicion of being an accomplice to his son.. The same National coach who has been on the helm for over a decade now and who the Federation have tried removing a few times in the past years. But every time the proposal of a new coach was brought up, almost all of the weightlifters, including Karlos Nasar, have said that they would boycott the National team, if Ivanov was not the coach. Given, that we have our biggest boom in the past 20 years, i'm not denying the work being done by Ivanov, but his relationship with the Federation was always very iffy. Not that those guys are some saints, not by any means, but you can never guess who's in the right. Let's see how things develop and if any charged will be pressed against him.

  36. Goalball qualification has been completed. For the men's tournament, the qualified teams are Egypt (absent since 1992) and Iran (2012) return to the Games, while France qualifies for the first time thanks to the host quota. In Tokyo we had 10 teams instead of 8, and 5 of them didn't qualify (including current bronze medalist Lithuania): For the women's tournament, the qualified teams are Algeria (absent since 2016) and South Korea (2000) return to the Games, while France qualifies for the first time. Out of the 10 participating teams in Tokyo, 5 didn't qualify this time (including current silver medalist USA): In general, Europe (men's) and the Americas (women's) suffered with the reduced field, while Asia did pretty great.

  38. Here is the last Minute and half of the match The main problem was I think with the graphics which did not show the 3rd goal, instead just kept by mistake the wrong score 2:3, it happens sometimes. But yeah 20 seconds to go, that was a clear foul, A Tripping at its pure finest, an encyclopedical one, I do not know what the refs were doing here, Thinking about whether they have their christmas gifts already prepared or not ? Should be sanctioned by the directoriate later for not calling this foul though I guess

  39. The end of the Bulgaria vs Iceland game was horrible. Of course a Bulgarian win likely would give Estonia the winner of the group even before the Iceland/Estonia game was played. Bulgaria was up 3-2 when Iceland pulled its goalie with about 2 minutes left. With about 30 seconds left a Iceland player takes down a Bulgarian player from behind. The player looked seriously hurt not moving at all. Looked like a dead body. Refs don't stop play. So its 6 Iceland players against 4. Because of the injury Iceland scores with 17 seconds left. The player would remain not moving while staff came out. Suddenly Refs huddle with Bulgarian and Iceland players. Looks like the goal might not be allowed. Then suddenly they declare goal counts plus say Iceland also scored with 1:23 to play ! Suddenly scoreboard changes from 3-2 Bulgaria to 4-3 Iceland. Never have a seen a team get credit for two goals as the same time. There was no stoppage of play for a goal at 1:23 nor any indication on the ice that a questionable decision even existed. I wish all 12 teams the best wishes in Round Two but that result smells. I hope Estonia wins on Sunday because they deserve it not Iceland
