  3. defeated in the women's tournament by a score of 7-6, after a senseless tactical management of the last end they got really lucky as skip missed the last shot to at least tie (if not actually win) the match

  5. There was no Fledderus in the Dutch team, it was Antoinette Rijpma-De Jong who did the last lap Also no Martyna Baran for Poland, but Iga Wojtasik. As the Dutch commentator said today: in the team sprint, the start list is really more of a 'suggestion on the possible start order', because there's last-minute changes which often aren't communicated in any way, so the only way to know who was riding is by actually watching the races And yes, Dubreuil was 18th last week, so relegated to the B division. Just like Schouten will most likely have to ride the 5k in the B division next time.

  11. Super slow race for Schouten, wouldn't even be close to the podium in the B division (where, granted, Groenewoud was fast, but the rest was nothing special). NOS guy in Beijing says the ice is very soft, so they may have thrown way too much water on it or something. 4:10 for Schouten, 4:20 for Greta Myers, both are just awful times for them, there is no way this is not due to the ice.

  21. Hairston posted the slowest time (minus a DSQ) in the men's handcycle time trial. I'm mostly just happy to see a competitor from the US Virgin Islands at the Para Pans after they skipped/missed in 2019.

  30. Well he definitely does have a chance for gold, no doubt, although I'd say something like maximum 25% or so - counting the home advantage - is far from safe. But yeah, anything is safer than Goggia I would find it awesome by the way, Ghiotto is a fantastic fighter. A dream would be to have Ghiotto vs Roest in the last pair, that would be fireworks

  38. Exactly 30 years ago Romania needed a win in Wales to qualiy for 1994 World Cup. We won 2-1 in Cardiff. The national coach then was Anghel Iordanescu and one of the scorers was Gheorghe Hagi. Today we qualified by exactly same score, 2-1 away, the national coach is Anghel Iordanescu's son, Eduard Iordanescu and one of the scorers is Gheorghe Hagi's son, Ianis Hagi😁. What a great story in our fotball😍

  40. has some outside chances, but I wouldn't bet in any of them (maybe D'Almeida). In Tokyo we won an unexpected medal in Tennis for the first time, so maybe we'll add another sport to the list in Paris. Archery (men's individual, Marcus D'Almeida) Canoe Slalom (women's C1, Ana Sátila) Rhythmic Gymnastics (group all-around) Table Tennis (men's singles, Hugo Calderano) Triathlon (men's individual, Miguel Hidalgo)

  44. qualifies for Paris in men’s sitting volleyball through the WPV World Cup! Normally I would be okay with this, but the African qualifier hasn’t happened yet, and Egypt securing a berth here has effectively freed up a spot for a mediocre African team (either Rwanda or Algeria)
