This moved them to second place overall. Mexico and Brazil accounted for four golds a piece. In fact, the top 4 nations won 24/28 events. The Dominican Republic was able to win one of those few gold medals and move ahead of Argentina. Similarly Ecuador moves into the top 10, displacing Venezuela.

  4. big big surprise. Bahrain beat Qatar in the semifinal and they did it without two of their best players (one got injured early and the other one received a direct red card in the 1st half) history repeated once again, 4 years ago Bahrain also defeated Qatar in the SF. if I'm not wrong that was the only defeat of this Qatar team (World selection team) under Valero Rivera in an Asian competition.

Oriane Bertone wins the qualification round ahead of Laura Rogora (who was surprisingly good in the Boulder section), thanks also to a very easy Lead section, where 7 girls topped the wall (and only 4 of them can be considered Lead specialists) 3rd was Stasa Gejo Tomorrow the men start their competition with their qualification round

I think I have one If I am not wrong, that's the second time where we have two editions of Panam Games in a row, which both hosts have a frontier between them The first one happened in 1955 - 1959 in Cidade do México and Chicago .

  24. Against all odds, Brazil secured a medal in Baseball, which somewhat makes up for the disappointment of not having won a medal in 3x3 Basketball. But the list of sports we didn't medal is still 8 with Sport Climbing added now (and will be 9 with Breaking). Among the debut sports we only did medal in Skateboarding.

  27. let me give you a detailed answer people who know nothing about this sport usually can't understand the difference between GR and FS. I even remember some "wise" people even in totallympics suggested having 3 GR weights and 3 FS weights, like a wrestler can easily switch between styles. 50 years ago? maybe but nowadays you can't find a single wrestler in high level who tries both styles (yeah Taishi Narikuni tried Greco after winning the world title in FS but failed miserably) kids switch styles when they are younger to find what they can do better. but when they settle into one of those two styles that never changes. those genius guys in UWW (previously FILA) tried to find a way to show the world these styles are different. as far as I know they came up with two solutions. (there were other solutions like having different mat colors but that was costly) 1) let the Greco guys wrestle naked ! obviously I mean just the upper body I remember I heard one of their officials saying that's more "attractive" 2) having different weight classes they eventually went for #2. this way they just want to show the world these styles are different. and yes I know this is extremely stupid but UWW/FILA officials were never smart

  29. yeah, but this isn't the question they used to have the same weight classes for Freestyle and Greco-Roman Wrestling until a few years ago (2012, if I remember correctly), but then a brilliant mind came up with the decision to have different weight in the 2 disciplines, as if it would make any difference basically, they used the excusation that GR is more a European affair and the average weight of European people is heavier than for instance the average Asians, where most Freestyle Nations come from even if it's true that FR is more widely spread outside Europe than GR, I still think it's just cosmetics and also a mess that might cause problems to the occasional fans to identify the categories of this sport however, now it's quite some time (since Rio 2016 at the Olympic Games) that we have this difference and I don't think we'll get back to the old situation

  44. Official Announcement I would like to announce some changes made to the Festival of Music format for this edition. Users will be invited to submit song(s) from their own nation, the host nation, or a non-competing nation that meet the themes as described below. This edition of the contest will take place during a particularly festive time of year in California. There are many minor and major holidays celebrated in the autumn. As part of the cultural exchange of this contest, I'd like to celebrate two of my personal favorites with everyone. Users will be invited to submit a song (or two) for the following celebrations: Halloween and Día de Los Metros. I have provided guidelines for selecting submissions below. Halloween: I'm sure many of you are now familiar with this holiday. Nonetheless, a simple explanation would be that people dress in costumes, traditionally scary or "spooky" creatures like witches, zombies, reapers, skeletons, werewolves etc. Children (and sometimes teenagers who have almost certainly aged out) then engage in "trick or treating" after the sun sets. This involves going from to house to house, asking the owners "trick or treat?" Most owners will offer a treat (candy or homemade goodies) to ward off a trick (prank or mischievous act). People might also carve pumpkins into "jack-o-lanterns" (homemade lanterns created from hollowed out pumpkins), go to a haunted house (a house or building you walk through where people try to scare the shit out of you), or attend costume parties (with candy and drinks supplied, of course.) It is celebrated on October 31st every year, although some festivities make take a place a few days before (parties and haunted houses) if it happens during the work week. In celebration of this holiday, users will be invited to post up to two songs with a scary, haunting, or "dark" theme (or something that explicitly celebrates Halloween) on October 31st. Reminder: You may choose a song by an artist from your own country, the host nation, or a non-competing nation. Please speak up if you have questions. P.S. Users who are familiar with the tradition of Devil's Night are invited to "prank" us by posting an out-of-the-box song on October 30th. Día de Los Muertos: This holiday migrated up the border with Mexico. I'm sure @mrv86 can explain it with much more detail than myself, but essentially, it is a joyful celebration in remembrance of family members and friends who have died. The popular animated film Coco is based on this holiday for those familiar with it. It has become more common to find people celebrating it in California over the last few years, especially on high school or college campuses. In celebration of this holiday, users will be invited to post up to two songs in remembrance of those who have passed away recently and/or long ago on November 1st and 2nd. You may choose song(s) they liked, a song that reminds you of them, or a general remembrance song. Feel free to write a short post explaining your choice. Again, you may choose a song by an artist from your own country, the host nation, or a non-competing nation. Please speak up if you have questions. The schedule on first post of the thread has been amended in line with the new format. Thanks.

  45. The next few days look light on the calendar overall, not just for Canada. Whoever made this weak calendar for the weekend should be fired. Athletics (besides race walk) not starting till Monday? So a whole weekend with no swimming, athletics or gymnastics of any kind.

  46. Wiens got screwed out of a bronze. He was consistently better than the Mexican diver, except for one dive (and the Mexican blew a dive, too). I'd argue Nathan deserved the gold, too, but that one is quite debatable. Overall, I felt like Mexicans were overscored across the board in most of the diving events.

  49. Right. In short, sounds indeed like the typical politician I would stay far, far away from if someone with those positions was here Especially if he's one of those people who drags on about "this is woke!" and "that is woke!", ugh. Half the things those people call 'woke' (with a negative tone, of course) are basic human things, nowadays. Anyhow, thanks for the explanation and the confirmation of what I thought
