Blue Swede 8 Posted February 17, 2020 #288 Share Posted February 17, 2020 (edited) They are talking about scrapping the distance event in the future and for OGs in 2026. Some of the people in power thinks it takes too long a time and is too complicated for spectators. Personally,I think it is BS. The distance competition is for me the most fun of all to watch. Sadly the super sprints and stadium crap are upon us in biathlon. They got rid of the 50km in cross country and they will probably get rid of the individual which is a crying shame. Biathlon is losing importance when it comes to shooting, now individual is just about the only event where shooting 20/20 actually matters. I won't even say a word about this being "too complicated". It's obviously a total BS. phelps

Getting rid of it would kill the sport, all the champions would eventually be fast skiers & rubbish shots like Lars Berger & Myriam Gossner. It only takes as much time as a rugby match or an Alpine downhill, less than a ski jumping competition and far less than a cycling stage. phelps
