Couldn't they host a European qualifier in May like they are for Pan America?

I mean, if they are still cancelling events in May then it is highly likely the Olympics themselves will be cancelled.

The best thing to do would be start over with a new tournament in May/June. Those who had won matches can get byes in the early rounds as a form of compensation.

this is terrible:facepalm:

These are the best ranked Asian/Oceania athletes , obviously if they accept the quota

it will be very interesting for Oceania athletes, specially Samoa :yikes: having a separate continental championship helped them to have more ranking points. only 6 out of 63 quotas went to Oceania during the qualifiers. they will get 5 more here. but I assume there will be some withdrawals. two of these Samoan boxers didn't even participate at the qualifier in Jordan.

52: :PHI Carlo Paalam

57: :MGL Erdenebatyn Tsendbaatar

63: :AUS Harry Garside

69: :SAM Marion Ah Tong

75: :UZB Fanat Kakhramonov

81: :UZB Dilshodbek Ruzmetov

91: :SAM Ato Plodzicki-Faoagali

+91: :SAM Filimaua Hala

51: :PRK Pang Chol-Mi

57: :PHI Nesthy Petecio

60: :CHN Wang Cong

69: :UZB Maftunakhon Melieva

75: :SAM Faasu Loia

Total disaster for Asia if based on this list, extremely unfair for all boxers pursuing Olympic dreams. It's just like a joke could be determined by tossing a coin.

At least the fairness of this qualification system, matches the general fairness of the judging in this sport :p

They lead us to moonlight only to burn us with the sun.

Are we just fooling ourselves that they'll stop the pain.

Just a fool to believe IOC is what we need - they're like a... stormwind.

BTF is supposed to release the world quotas reallocation to Asia/Oceania and Africa today. Does anyone have information about that? I couldn't search out related news.

    • Yea I only used transit besides this Uber / bus to the airport and back. All the venues were at the end of the line, so it allowed you to speak with other fans/volunteers etc. I even met Corrine Stoddard's mom after the first session of short track on the way back, and told her to remember our conversation if she won a medal later in the Olympics. We know how that ended up...
    • I used public transit the entire time I was in Milan.   My first day was a doozy, because I had to two flights to reach Malpensa, and then the train into town was delayed, and then I got confused a station and boarded a tram instead of the metro, proceeded to travel in the wrong direction, got off, walked back to the station, found the metro, got off a station early, walked around a kilometer to my hotel, and checked in.   My colleagues mostly took cabs upon arrival, but I deduced to take the frugal approach. That said, I was a true public transit professional by the time I left Milan.   I actually enjoyed my rides to and from venues, because I'd just chat up fans and volunteers from different countries. It helped me learn more about the city too.
    • It's the olympics, sleep is for the weak!    The first day i got there i was on a 12 hour flight from l.a to rome (flight that left mid day), lay over, another flight to milan, uber to hotel, then right away to speed skating (1500m men), then after uber to hockey venue for women's gold final, then after the celebrations uber to the hotel, i ended up being awake about 36 hours that day, the next morning i thought to go sightseeing in the center of milan, but ended up sleeping until like 2pm..... and had speed skating/short track that night
    • I tried to get onto the metro multiple times and gave up    I had just arrived the day of from Bangkok (12 hr flight) and was just exhausted and wanted to sleep
    • Plus, you missed out on a potential metro ride with me, which is quite priceless in my opinion
    • My hotel was very close to Rho so was easy to get there, but it was so far from the hockey venue that after the women's gold medal match it was so expensive to get back, and also the next day after the usa slovakia semis it took forever, the asshole driver took the city and not the freeway
    • Uber cost me $224 CAD to get back to the hotel from the OC. It basically prevented me from buying tickets to a speed skating session
    • Romania's national team coach, Mircea Lucescu, has died half an hour ago He was in hospital since March 30th, just before the friendly match against Slovakia. Unbelievable how the life can have such turns...in March 26th he was in Istanbul playing the WC qualifying play-off vs Turkiye and now he died.    Thank you very much for every moments you bring us in your huge career (he's on 3rd place in a most trophies won in career, after Ferguson and Guardiola) and may your soul rest in peace, Mr. Lucescu.
