Interesting. That's a lot lower than I would predict and I'm usually very pessimistic.

I would predict 10-14 golds including 1 or 2 in swimming,

???

Those predictions were for swimming only. I have no idea how many medals/golds GB will win across all sports, but I would definitely think 60+ medals and 20+ golds. 8-10 medals in swimming and 2 or 3 of them in gold (most likely out of men’s 200 free, men’s 100 breast, men’s 200 IM, men’s 800 free relay).

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

Sorry - I didn't read your reply closely enough

As it was expected, the Hungarian domination in men's 400IM at the ECh is over after 8 consecutive gold medals between 2004 and 2018. I am more sad about the fact that Verrasztó will likely never win an Olympic medal, he can be one of the most successful Hungarian swimmers ever who never managed to step on the podium at the Games.

Well, :GBR are better at swimming than song-writing.

11G 9S 6B will do for now. :champion:

No, the difference is that at the swimming Euro,  :GBR sends their best team, while in the music Euro it's the equivalent of your local troupe from Torquay.

Actually the "local troupe from Torquay" would be Muse who have sold 20 million records.... :)

We need to find a smaller town instead....

    • There is a transgender volleyball player here in Brazil; there was even a recent controversy (this year) when a city banned her from playing in a certain competition, which ended up in court, ultimately in her favor.   But the situation is much simpler than that; the reason for this decision is because of the two female boxers who won at Paris 2024 (who apparently are not transgender).

    • there were rumors about it for quite a while, but as I wrote, it was never confirmed so, it might well be just some haters throwing out some shit on her 🤷
    • Where did you get that?   I'm not sure I would have considered her to have dissapeared from out of nowhere, at least since after Tokyo... she did win medals at the next two World Championships. I think it's just recently, she's been struggling with injury which is why she's completely out of form...
    • Even though I'm not the biggest fan of her, always sucks to see a career ending through injury and not on your own terms
    • This is going to have an effect on very likely 0 athletes, possibly 1 or 2 we don't really know about yet. It's really mostly the cheapest possible way for them to make a sort of political statement, without having any significant backlash since it won't really affect anyone at the top level of international sports.   Edit: worded a bit wrong, I was thrown off by everywhere 'trans women' being mentioned as the target of this. Of course there is also the somewhat larger category of DSD and the likes, which will certainly affect a few athletes - unfortunately they are often thrown under the bus or mentioned as 'not really women anyway' or something like that, despite, you know, being.
