The funniest was in 2016 there was an Armenian girl who primarily ran 400m but somehow qualified in 400m hurdles. Her 400m hurdles PB (which she never came close to ever again) is actually better than her 400m PB, lmao

Instead of running 400M H she ran 400M BH when of course B stands for Bureaucracy

(If it doesn’t make you laugh then sorry In advance  for this Stupid pun joke)

Bureaucratic oversight in failing to put any hurdles on the track, perhaps.

Men's Hammer

:GBR Taylor Campbell 78.23

That's been coming for a little while. Just need Chris Bennett to add a metre to his PB and they'll be taking three male hammer throwers to the Games for the first time in living memory.

Same thing is going on in Armenia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan.

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are usually a little more "subtle". As in, their athletes don't achieve literally the exact required standards (like basically the whole Armenian team did for 2016). :p But still, they achieve massive and suspicious PBs at home events which they never repeat somewhere outside.

yes Kazakhstan too, most of those others "suspicious" qualification marks for Iranian athletes were achieved in Kazakhstan! mostly in Kosanov tournament. either the track is super fast or they do magic with the numbers :p

what's really annoying for me is that some of those probably "fake" results are national records at the moment. I seriously suspect at least our Hammer throw and 110mH records.

    • c'mon! stop those idiots! they're trying hard to ruin athletics in almost every aspect (road running, field events, the same cross country that has already been killed in practice)   please, someone shoot to death Coe and his accolades as soon as possible!!!
    • That's only if they don't listen to Trump's 48 hour deadline. But that is permanently 48 hours away, since, well, TACO.
    • I agree NO to Poomsae!!!   I think they plan to introduce 6 weight classes after LA instead of 8 right now, and those 6 should become Olympic instead of current 4 weights. Going forward world and Olympic ranking could be identical.    But it’s not clear if that means more quotas. Having 6 classes with 64 athletes per gender would be a joke. A reasonable taekwondo competition needs at least 16 athletes per weightclass. But I am not sure taekwondo can get another 64 quotas in total, I doubt it.    beside that I am not happy with the newly proposed weight classes, they give much more focus on light weight athletes, which will be an advantage for Asian countries mainly.    if the proposal is accepted the new weightclasses will be:    Female: 46kg, 51kg, 57kg, 63kg,70kg and +70kg    Male: 54kg, 60kg, 67kg,74kg, 82kg, +82kg
