I Predicted the entire Games and assuming the lack of accuracy (caused by ignorance ) in some sports, these are my results (or my gambles :d) for us:

Gold: 8
Silver: 7
Bronze: 7
Total: 22

It is certainly an optimistic result, but not too much. I tried to balance the "surprises" with the "disappointments" (plus ONE BIG DREAM with the Gold in Men's Water Polo :d)

-Athletics: 1 (optimistic)
-Canoeing: 5 (2 golds; realistic/underwhelming)
-Fencing: 3 (1 gold; realistic/optimistic)
-Judo: 1 (realistic)
-Modern Pentathlon: 1(optimistic)

-Sailing: 1 (realistic)

-Shooting: 1 (realistic but so difficult to predict)
-Swimming: 6 (3 golds; realistic)
-Water Polo: 1 gold (optimistic)

-Wrestling: 2 (1 gold; realistic)

I would add a bronze in Women's water polo (optimistic/even upset but they would deserve it finally :D)

Who would be the gold medallist in wrestling (I have 0 clue about that sport) and where does the 3rd gold in swimming come from (1 Milak, 1 Hosszu ok)?

6 medals in swimming is pretty much the best case for Hungary (+1 in open water).

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

It would be fantastic, but unlike Men, a medal from girls would be a real surprise and a result above expectation. But my whole prediction is above expectation, so why not :D ?

Gold to Lőrincz Tamás in Greco-Roman 77kg, He is the current world champion and he dominated the last European Championships in April.

Regarding swimming, I'll have to correct you :d2 Milák , 1 Hosszú, Silver for Kapás, Bronze for Hosszú in 200 I.M. and Razovszky in Open Waters

I still think that we will win more medals compared to Rio, but less gold medals. Right now I would predict 4 gold medals for Hungary, 2 in canoe sprint, 1 in swimming and 1 in wrestling. But I expected around 5 gold medals from both London and Rio, so what do I know. :d

I am just not confident in any of our fencers to go all the way. i mean, we have 5 fencers who can win gold medals (Szilágyi, Szatmári, Márton, Pusztai, Siklósi), but I just can't predict a third consecutive Hungarian gold medal in men's sabre, that feels too good to be true. Men's epée can be a mess as always, and our girls in women's sabre haven't won a single WCh medal in the past 5 years, let alone a gold. And we are obviously not the frontrunners in any of the team events.

Let's try this again:

Germany :GER

Shooting (including Archery) : 1-4

Swimming, including Open Water: 1-3

Athletics: 2-7

Diving: 0-2

Team Sports (including Beach Volleyball): 1-5

Boxing, Judo, Taekwondo, Wrestling etc.: 2-7

Fencing: 0-1

Cyling (all disciplines): 2-7

Equestrian: 4-7

Tennis/Golf/Table Tennis: 0-5

Gymnastics: 0-1

Pentathlon/Triathlon: 0-3

Canoe (Slalom and Sprint): 4-11

Rowing: 2-4

Rest: 0

Worst Case: 19

Best Case: 67

67+19 makes 86. 86/2 makes an average of 43 medals.

That is an interesting formula

you forgot karate

but what has golf to do with table tennis/tennis? ?

I didn't forget Karate, I counted it with Boxing etc. I just didn't mention it.

Golf has only two events and basically everything is possible. So I wanted to combine it with some other sports. Tennis and Table Tennis seemed to fit, because all of them are sports involving balls but no team sports. :d

    • This is going to have an effect on very likely 0 athletes, possibly 1 or 2 we don't really know about yet. It's really mostly the cheapest possible way for them to make a sort of political statement, without having any significant backlash since it won't really affect anyone at the top level of international sports.   Edit: worded a bit wrong, I was thrown off by everywhere 'trans women' being mentioned as the target of this. Of course there is also the somewhat larger category of DSD and the likes, which will certainly affect a few athletes - unfortunately they are often thrown under the bus or mentioned as 'not really women anyway' or something like that, despite, you know, being.
    • Mary Rand has died aged 86. The first British woman to win a Gold in track and field at the 1964 Tokyo Games (where she also took home a further two medals in the Women’s 4x100m relay and Pentathlon).
    • Athing Mu competed in the USA trials in 2024 and 2025 post the 2023 rule changes. She also won Gold in 2022 and Bronze in 2023.    Jelimo the jury is out. She doesn’t look male like the other two do.
    • People focus on trans people because it's easier to pinpoint the affected athletes. Meanwhile it's the athletes with (suspected) DSDs that will have tougher time to convince the authorities and the public opinion that they belong to women's sports.
    • badminton queen Carolina Marin announced that she can't take part into the home Europeans in the upcoming weeks because of her injured knee and calls it a career 😭
    • yes, there are (or there was, at least) don't forget that the women's 800m had world and olympic champions like Semenya, Jelimo and Nyonsaba...basically, it was 10 years of DSD winners only the same Athing Mu was suspected to be DSD (never confirmed, but somehow she totally disappeared after Tokyo) then, there were the 2 girls from Namibia (1 won a medal over 200m in Tokyo) in Italy we have the living scandal Valentina Petrillo (a paralympian!!!), who's actually a real man not to mention the weightlifter from who took part into the Tokyo Games so, it's a real problem all around the globe, not just a US crusade against a few woke idiots
