I have been watching non-stop sports and writing about them for the past 15 hours, I am not feeling like writing down every single moment I remember anymore because my fingers hurt :p

Thought you were a proper Olympics nerd and yet you don't recognize 3 Olympic Medalists (Emma Aastrand and Rytter Juhl/Pedersen)... I'm disappointed! ;)

Dufour is one of the top dressage riders, Helle Frederiksen long distance triathlete, Maja Alm one of the top orienteerers (but trying to qualify for the Olympics on the 5000m) and Stinna Tange is World Champion in para-dressage.

Mana Alm is a beast. She deserves to win

I doubt that she will. She surely deserves the nomination, but orienteering is too small for me to believe that she will get the win.

She makes the other competitors look like there standing still though...

I’m a little sad that Lewis Oliva didn’t make the list. He’s the one Welsh athlete that stood out to me this year.

We had our first ever Indonesian Sports Awards on Friday. Basically most of the awards are useless since it is based on popular vote and used the priority of Football > Badminton > Some Memorable/Viral Athletes > I don't know who they are.

Here are the winner of non-vote awards:

Athlete of the Year: Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon (Badminton)

Young Athlete of the Year: Lalu Muhammad Zohri (Athletics)

Coach of the Year: Herry Iman Pierngadi (Badminton, the coach of athlete of the year :p )

Sport Club/Institution of the Year: PB Djarum Badminton Club (Kevin Sanjaya's club :p)

Lifetime Achievement Award: Christian Hadinata (Badminton)

    • One has already been approved under the new rules.
    • There is a transgender volleyball player here in Brazil; there was even a recent controversy (this year) when a city banned her from playing in a certain competition, which ended up in court, ultimately in her favor.   But the situation is much simpler than that; the reason for this decision is because of the two female boxers who won at Paris 2024 (who apparently are not transgender).

    • there were rumors about it for quite a while, but as I wrote, it was never confirmed so, it might well be just some haters throwing out some shit on her 🤷
    • Where did you get that?   I'm not sure I would have considered her to have dissapeared from out of nowhere, at least since after Tokyo... she did win medals at the next two World Championships. I think it's just recently, she's been struggling with injury which is why she's completely out of form...
    • Even though I'm not the biggest fan of her, always sucks to see a career ending through injury and not on your own terms
    • This is going to have an effect on very likely 0 athletes, possibly 1 or 2 we don't really know about yet. It's really mostly the cheapest possible way for them to make a sort of political statement, without having any significant backlash since it won't really affect anyone at the top level of international sports.   Edit: worded a bit wrong, I was thrown off by everywhere 'trans women' being mentioned as the target of this. Of course there is also the somewhat larger category of DSD and the likes, which will certainly affect a few athletes - unfortunately they are often thrown under the bus or mentioned as 'not really women anyway' or something like that, despite, you know, being.
