[OFF TOPIC] Politics Thread

Orban is one of the most competent leaders in Europe at the moment.

Sad to say, but the whole pandemic crisis really showed how the EUs solidarity agenda is one big facade. I feel for the people of Italy and Spain left to survive how they can. When Italy has to depend on help from China, Russia, Cuba.... We are all one until actions need to be taken. Just as much, as the EU sent troops to help the greek border, they are helping with the virus. The big EU leaders showed total incompetence.

You know that Germany and France combined has shipped more masks to Italy than China? And German hospitals taking in Italian patients? And the creation of green corridors?

It's not like other European countries aren't under pressure. Sure some countries could do more to help, but "the solidarity is one big facade" is a blatant lie!

And what makes Orban a competent leader? And even if he was so, how does that make suspending the parliament okay (without any kind of time limit)

Yeah, I haven’t seen any evidence that makes me go “That Orban guy is a good leader.” I have seen evidence that makes me go “thank god I don’t live in Hungary.”

His country is not on the brink of pandemic disaster like the rest of Western Europe.

Authoritarianism is simply a better political system than liberal democracy especially in a time of a global crisis :p

I will never agree with this. If suppressing the rights of everyone is your prefect vision of government, then you are a severely fucked up person.

I’d be careful what you wish for. The periods after pandemics like the Spanish Flu, Black Death, etc. are known for their extreme social reforms and liberalism.

You don't have to agree with me. Different people have different opinions.

As for extreme social reforms & liberalism, how is Bernie Sanders doing? :p  This guy's failure proves to me people are not holding out for those extreme reforms just yet
