@heywooduCanada does not keep active licenses with the FIS during the summer, which is why the quota simulation shows as 0 eligible athletes. This will change when its renewed in the fall.

Huh, never heard of that before. Is there any reason to actively de-activate licenses during the summer? Surely a country like Canada doesn't need to save the handful of dollars in fees, considering they're big enough to have 30-40 pairs of skis (or more)......per athlete? :p

Cross-Country Skiing courses will be the hardest in history. The men's 50km race, for example, has a total ascent of 2039 meters. The maximum allowed is 2100 meters, plus the altitude of about 1600 meters.

So that's why we're suddenly allowed to send 4 cc skiers :p

Well, the results are certainly not going to be good, but we're going to have the biggest Lithuanian team that the Winter Olympics have ever seen, since we nearly secured 5 spots in biathlon, we have 2 for figure skating and 2 for alpine skiing.

Yeah, Linn - that's the sad news ..... The season barely started and already some shitty news, a.k.a. Leintinger, Shiffrin,....

@dcro You are good with rules, help us out please :p

This quite clearly states that an athlete who does NOT have under 100 distance points and also does NOT have under 300 sprint points, can not complete in the individual sprint, correct?

That would be my conclusion, yes. Leaves no room for another interpretation.

I agree with that conclusion. So that means Mirlene Picin would not be eligible for the Sprint? What would happen if Picin has a better FIS points average, but only Bruna can start in two events?

    • Some notable  retirements:   Elisavet Pesiridou (athletics - 100m hurdles) - She announced her retirement on her 34th birthday. She competed in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. She narrowly missed Paris 2024 despite being in good form, the rest of he field seemed to get stronger and her ranking was a bit lower even though she was quite consistent. She struggled with injuries in 2025.   Fani Tzeli (taekwondo) - She was 7th in Tokyo 2020 but didn't qualify for Paris 2024. Still, she is only 24 yo and seemed to be rising up again after winning bronze at the European Championships so it is a bit surprising.   Aikaterini Divari (sailing) - She competed in Tokyo 2020 but didn't qualify for Paris 2024. Only 25 yo.   AJ Ginnis (alpine skiing) - Despite winning a silver at the World Championships he never got to compete at the Winter Olympics as he was always unfortunately injured. A shame as he is by far our best winter athlete ever. Only 31 yo, and I have a feeling he might come back in 2030 based on his last interview...
