Did you miss the news that the Scandinavian FA’s are considering quitting Fifa due to the prospect of the World Cup every two years?

UEFA and CONMEBOL won't support the biennial World Cup and this makes the whole point moot. Not even worth to talk about it.

Well, I am sure of one thing. Some steps China does ... Let's say does not really help the country image but they unfortunately realize after doing it. A k.a. Peng Shuai case ...... Countries will 99% sure not boycott Olympics in a sports way but they may do the political boycott. Would be difficult to restore the good relations with China but it's every country's decision ... Anyways, what I am expecting is an individual athlete boycott. Some athletes have decided not to take the vaccine, some don't agree with Games in China or the political system/relations. So I expect some already qualified athletes may withdraw/boycott the Games.

However FIfa is one member one vote and it’s been calculated that it will pass because of everyone else. And those countries won’t accept a u turn. Fifa could split into two.

The fact is IOC’s reputation has been damaged, acting as CCTV’s puppet because they told everyone Peng is okay, so there wasn’t any need for those fake interviews/statements they usually make people do.

this article perfectly summarized what IOC has gotten a indirect culprit in.

I’m not so sure.

But if there's the tiniest whiff of trouble, you are sure things will be cancelled....so yeah :p

The only actual issues in terms of the Games being somewhat succesful are the things surrounding the virus and the expected lack of snow, with many venues in the mountains still looking....well, the opposite of snowy. Everything political or semi-political won't actually have a large impact on the Games, other than a head of state of one country or another not being there, but who cares about that anyway :p

Did IOC have a significant reputation (in a positive way) to begin with? :d

The Peng statement was a new low though.

Far below anything they have done previously. :dunno:
