If any sport will be removed from 2024 it will happen at the IOC Executive Board meeting / IOC Session in Lausanne next month

Any idea of weightlifting or boxing are at risk?

If a sport does get removed will they have time to add a new one?

sure, if they choose a sport that's already well structured with established events and rankings and they don't have to build anything from scratch...

in any case, if they throw one between weightlifting and/or boxing out of the Olympic program, they have a safe bet to replace it/them...

it's Karate, which would actually deserve to be there (possibly with a better format, no more Kata but all 5 M+W Kumite classes with let's say 16 fighters per class) after its Olympic one-hit appearance in Tokyo instead of that joke named breakdance...

I could also see them giving Squash it's long awaited Olympic debut. It's quite popular in France so finding a venue wouldn't be hard and it's got a solid ranking system with all continents represented at least once in the top 40 in both men's and women's divisions.

Please no karate, I was very much in favor before as Croatia has few good fighters. But after watching karate for the first time, I think it is the most boring and totally non-sense combat sport.

    • I still shocks, that a country of 4-5 million inhabitants? can be a powerhouse in almost every winter sport + handball, football (most recently with Haaland) and athletics: Ingebrigtsen, Warholm, etc. With such a small population, they can't be missing out on any major talent, surely? This must be the best training system in the world...
    • FIFA announced the stadium and time for each match   for  Iran, it will be 2 matches in LA (and not just 1) and 1 in Seattle and luckily we avoided playing in Canada. absolutely nothing against the country, but there are just too many douchebag Iranian groups in Vancouver trying to mix everything with their stupid politics. it's better to stay away from them.   that can happen in US too but less likely. playing in LA is more like playing at home, at least I hope so. 2022 Qatar was a disaster from our point of view, hopefully this one remains only about football.

    • I don't think he'll mind too much
    • But his time isn`t valid at track record.
    • Vladimir Semirunniy dropped a 12:28 in the 10000m B division, which qualifies him for the Olympics as the fastest time this season (with the big asterisk that it was done in a quad start). Must be a real relief for the Polish team given he isn't looking likely to qualify for the 10000m (or the 5000m) by ranking.   Really problematic that they rank pair start and quad start times together, but whatever.   Also, the Wikipedia page for qualification is updated through the second day.
