Skateboarding downhill, is that what I think it is? Because that'd be extremely awesome :d Sure, not really 'Olympic' or something, but neither is breakdancing and that's on the program.

I would love to see one of my favourite childhood videogames turning into a olympic sport :p

Not sure if it actually is, but shouldn't it be way too late to still add events (or remove them) from the program?

I think the events are mostly set for 2024 (barring weightlifting getting completely kicked out), I'm thinking ahead as to how the IOC may make medaling events gender equal (because they will). Gymnastics poses an interesting conundrum where they'll have to work with wrestling to keep their respective disciplines in the games or either axe the artistic apparatus events or increase the women's event to six apparatuses by adding two of PH/Rings/PB/HB, neither of which are ideal.

None of them would properly work for women and to do so would have to be the end of a lengthy process which starts with the junior ranks first.

I think gender equality is by sport. So gymnastics is equal in that regard.

As long as the focus is mostly on adding women's events and not replacing men's events, but I fear for that.

Doubt gymnastics is touched. Greco-Roman Roman wrestling on the other hand might be in trouble.

That'd be sad, it was way more enjoyable to watch than freestyle, where most of the time, well, not really much happened..

I think the pattern is clear for 2028. Rhythmic gymnastics will stay, the number of events in gymnastics is the same for men and women. Artistic swimming will stay as mixed, and greco-roman will go.

But then the number of athletes may not be even. I guess the rhythmic gymnastics quotas can be offset by the extra men's teams in football (72 athletes), but that would be too few, even after reducing the team event down to 12. Maybe FIG could argue for more men's artistic quotas and say they belong to specialists.

Hopefully Greco Roman stays

I like it much more than freestyle

but you could be right

unless they do something with weight categories for men, which would be stupid too
