  • 4 months later...

The tournament starts tomorrow and there is few stupid and one very controversial decisions, to keep "bubble" safe there won't be line judges, journalists will can contact with players only via internet, there won't be handshakes after match and before the matches there won't be played national anthems of the teams, which is this one controversial decision. I don't get point at this restriction to not playing national anthems

:CAN was leading Turkey 2-1 sets, with 23 points in fourth, and ends up losing, next day defeats Olympic champions China. That is sport for you

Which also shows how irrelevant the Nations League is to most of the participating teams, especially now before the Olympics...

Is Italy with the junior team, as they are 0-5 and probably after tonight 0-6 ?:mumble:

Italy, Serbia and China are here without their best players. for Italy and Serbia this is completely a B team (I mean top 12-16 players are training somewhere else with the NT coach) while China has a better team and I think I read somewhere that top players (including Zhu Ting) will join the rest somewhere in middle of the competition. am I right ? @Vic Liu

but you would expect Italy B to win some matches here. they are not "this" bad actually. there are some young and promising players in that team. they could beat Poland and Japan with a bit of luck.

China Team A will arrive in June 5th, they will play from 6th or 7th I guess. China is eager to play with strong teams as they have no such chances after 2019 World Cup. All top players will show up later. China is performing so bad until now even it’s a team B. Hopefully things will get better.

    • It looks like the IIHF is sticking with 3-on-3 overtime for all events moving forward.     BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
    • Although it was a terrible Olympics for Canada, and my two favourite sports (Hockey and Short Track) really didn't work out for us, there were a couple of fun times.    -Women's Pursuit team winning gold because while it was not unexpected at all, it was still a great triumph against an amazing adversary.    -Dubreuil getting a surprise bronze in speed skating 500m.    -Really all of speed skating, Canada and otherwise.    -I really want to say Dubois getting gold in short track, but the whole thing was a mess.    -The last two ends of the men's curling gold medal game.    -Kingsbury getting gold. But it was more relief than excitement, unfortunately.    -I really like the luge relay. Canada was not involved, unfortunately, but it's always fun to watch.    -Men's freeski big air final was nuts! In all the good ways. That was truly the highest level of competition I've seen in a very long time.    -The dog crossing the finish line in cross country, which should have been the meme of the Olympics (not that...other thing).
    • It was also nice to have actual crowds again. I think the Beijing organizers did the best they could given the COVID regulations that still existed in China at the time, but it sure did dampen the atmosphere *a lot*.
    • I was in premium economy as well, the extra five inches of leg room definitively helped me stay sane.   For BA I was in business class and I just wasn't impressed at all, despite the cabin itself being really good (it was a 787-900 so their newer business class product). The service was just... not good enough for international business class - they actually made me appreciate Air Canada xD . With Condor I could forgive the service not being that good because of how little (relatively) I paid, and the seat was comfortable enough.
    • Yes. This was the best WOG since at least Sochi 2014. I only started paying attention to the Olympics after London 2012, so small sample size. But, this was the best WOG I can remember. European fans and atmosphere make everything better in my opinion.
    • There were lots of good moments , this olympics felt so special (I am talking of WOG). The last time I really enjoyed viewing WOG was in Sochi & this tops it. So many feel good moments, very well attended event with spectators filling up stands & making an atmosphere. So many top performances, but for me the  women team dominating the Biathlon event was really special. All 3 of them were just so good & gave top performance. I love it how the female commentator pronounced  Lou Jeanmonnot  & finally grazie mille  we loved it! Thanks for making me fall in love with winter sports again
    • I'm surprised that some Hungarians here are interested in some Nazis in Kiev, instead of their country's economic decline over the last 15-20 years, falling under Romania's level of GDP, when around 2000 it was the richest country in the all former post-communist region. But I understand that this is Orban's tactic to continue ruling and stealing the country, to distract from truly important matters and focus on trivial matters. Clinton's campaign slogan in the USA many years ago: "The economy, stupid!" I think that the current opposition leader in HUN should probably do the same- just do your thing and let Orban himself with all of this Soros, Nazis, etc, only the Martians are still missing in this madness, but that may come to pass
    • I found Condor really nice. I did upgrade myself, so maybe thats why. I would fly them again
