Iran will be fine for 2020, but it will be really hard for them to qualify people for 2024.

When is the ban from? If it's 4 year ban means next olympics will be los Angeles for them right (2021-2025)

Backdated from the 2019 Worlds.

The ban doesn't apply to the Olympics though. For 2020 it will have limited effects, but it may wreck havoc with their 2024 qualification.

Out of curiousity, where did you see it doesn't apply to the Olympics? All media, including IJF's own press release, seem to point to a four year ban from everything, starting in 2019?

I thought I had read that in the Inside the Games story, but it doesn't seem to be there anymore. Looks like I may have been wrong.

I can't wait to see how Judo Canada will manage its roster for the next Olympic cycle.

Jessica Klimkait, Shady Elnahas and Arthur Margelidon will continue for Paris 2024

Christa Deguchi's future is uncertain with the Canadian team

Antoine Valois-Fortier is likely to finish

Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard, she will make a decision next year if she will continue for 2024

As in Deguchi is going back to Japan or retiring? Any word on Guica?

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
