I’m dreaming of at least a spot in semis for him @Braulio @RiSeGwangFan, but also wouldn't like this to be his season peak

Italian law about citizenship is fucking stupid. If you have a great-great-grandaprent Italian, you're Italian.

If you are born in Italy by not-italian parents, if you do the Italian schools and so on, you must wait 18 years old and start a burocratic procedure...

to be precise, you can go back to the glory days of the 19th century and earlier...

the only important thing is that the "line" has never been broken by someone by giving up the Italian citizenship he/she originally held (and unfortunately there are many people with Italian ancestry that are not eligible anymore to get the Italian passport because of their origin because some of his/her relatives had to give up their Italian one -because of lack of interest rather than because of the law of the place where they live/lived, as some Countries don't allow the double nationality)...

p.s. our current law on Nationality is the best possible one...for sure better than the fuckin' ius soli they want impose right now...:hairpull:

Same with Ireland.  Presumably both written at a time when both countries were poor & everyone wanted to get their rich oncles d’amerique back into the motherland

yeah, it was written just after WW II, when we tried to get all those who escaped fascism era by shipping to the American continent back...

most Italian laws are very, very old and only some of them have been adapted to the modern age...it's one of our problems (still, I think this nationality law is good, better than the new one they -the politicians from the lefty parties only, to be precise...it's definitely not the common feeling of all the already Italian citizens- want to establish)...

even worse...

ius soli is already there...after full 5 years of residence if you're from an EU Country (10 if you're extra-UE) you can already ask for our citizenship...

there's no need to give up our passports easier than now (I can only accept to give our passport to those guys who are born in Italy from foreign parents, but only after the age of 15 and only if they have always lived and gone to school here...they must somehow show they're fully integrated into our social system and they fully respect and live our culture, traditions and law)...
