Summer Youth Olympic Games 2018

Today started the asian qualifiers of hockey 5s in Thailand. All matches are streamed on the Thailand hockey federation youtube channel.

Apparently they are playing (for some reason) 30 minutes per match instead of the 20 that were in the american qualifiers, so we'll be seeing very inflated scores.

Do we still have rowing?
:yikes:

What do you mean? We got a bronze medal and a gold medal (this last one in a para event) at the 2017 World Championships.

Oh really? :woot: I would never know, since Fabiana I dont see anything else about this sport.

Anyway, I think this sport gets worse every year. It is certainly one of our 5 worst sports.

Hockey Asia

Boys - :IND & :MAS

Girls - :IND & :CHN

Hockey Oceania

Boys - :AUS:VAN:SOL

Girls - :AUS:VAN

:SOL will have to pick between their futsal and hockey boys' teams (I'm inclined to think they will choose futsal to be honest). If they decline the hockey quota, then it will go to the 3rd team of Asia.  :AUS will also have to choose between boys' hockey or rugby 7. I have no idea what would happen if both nations decline the hockey quota (maybe :PNG 4th and last place finisher in Oceania qualifiers would receive a quota?).

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
    • Today : Jordan 3-0 Egypt  This team will surprise us
    • option no.2 for sure, as it's been all this shitstorm organized by the nhl owners through their embedded reporters   ps not that the north american audience looks really aware of the hockey rules and habits outside the nhl (and around their game, too, since they look not to know that just a couple of weeks ago they played 2 nhl matches on an ice sheet of the exact same size of Milan's olympic arena)
    • Are we supposed to take Daly's word for it or is this just public posturing to try and shame the Milan organizers (which they certainly deserve for all the delays) in order to threaten NHL participation?
    • Well that was a disappointing opening ceremony. Not to mention the boss is late too...   Anyway this is another victim of bureaucracy, the initial creative director quit in October and we get this kind of show.   Original plan: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17EVayTpig/
    • Japan missed their last shot with hammer in the 10th last night against the Philippines for them to stay alive.  USA's remaining 2 games are against Philippines and Netherlands, so they have a tough road ahead, although they've already beaten Japan, so that helps for tiebreaker purposes.
